Computer has power but won't turn on!

Hi peeps,

So my computer was working fine yesterday, I got up this morning to find that it wouldn't boot up.

It cannot be a problem with the PSU as the motherboard lights are on. I've checked all the connections to make sure nothing is loose, everything is fine. I have also tried unplugging everything but still nothing. I've even tried discharging the CMOS data by changing the CCMOS jumper and removing/replacing the button battery and ATX power connectors. Nothing seems to work.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

What I would do in this case, would take the motherboard out of the case and assemble it outside of the case and see if it will boot. Likely that it could be shorting against the case somewhere.

Also try another PSU. The motherboard may have lights but that doesn't mean it is getting enough power to boot the system.

make sure the front panel connectors are in the correct spot, they are not always colour coded so if you can look up your mobo's manual online.

Found the problem

It was the PSU that has failed, I only got standby lights on the motherboard and no fan movement. I tried to boot with nothing attached and it didn't work. To confirm it was defiantly the power supply I opened it up to find a blown capacitor.

Thank you all for your advice! :D
