Alright so for i am trying to decide whats better... XBOX 360 or PS3... Personally i have been a play station user for about 6 years now and it isnt really fullfiling by gaming needs i am not sure what to be using anymore so hope fully this thread helps me

Thanks :)

I say 360. The online community is way better and the plethora of arcade games and DC is amazing. Not only that but the new user interface coming this month is going to add a ton of new features like Zune support, 1080p movies on demand, facebook integration, twitter support and a ton more. Playstation does everything...but 360 does everything, better ;)

Just my 2 cents

Definitely PS3. Everything seems better than xbox 360. Most of my friends got PS3.

Please explain what is better, just saying it's better isn't good enough.

Really it just depends on what games you want to play, or if you want a blu-ray player. Maybe there are more games you rather play on 360 then PS3 or vis versa. Do you want to play online, if so I strongly suggest the 360 over the PS3 for that. PS3 is more of an entertainment console then anything the 360 is the one that you want for gaming. I'm not putting the PS3 down or anything because it is a nice console, but 360 is the only console worth buying if you want to game, especially if you are gonna play online.

Really it all just comes down to what you want. To me the 360 has more to offer over the PS3. The online is Superior & IMO 360 has more and better games.

Xbox 360: Pros:
More Classics
More Competitive (think MLG)
Larger Gaming Network (Xbox Live)
Halo 3 :)
Cons:
Pay for Live
A bit less HD than PS3, but you're in the middle of a game, who's looking at the clouds?

PS3: Pros:
Beautiful Games
Free gaming network (PSN, right?)
Resistance :)
Cons:
Not as many classics (but there are some good ones)
Very relaxed network (not good for a player like me)

ps3:10% failure rate, free online, blu ray, uses laptop hard drive so they are very cheap.

Xbox:54% failure rate, RROD, hard drives are crazy expensive, like $5 a month for online.

PS3 definitely wins

Isn't it weird that even though the xbox 360 has a 54% failure rate(which is BS because the new models hardly ever break) that more people still own a xbox 360 then a PS3, I wonder why that is. Also isn't it weird how more people prefer xbox live even though you have to pay for it, hummmm there is something to think about. You want me to tell you why that is, because the 360 is a better gaming system, and xbox live is a better online network for gaming. The only thing a PS3 has over a 360 is the blu-ray and built in wireless and that's it, the whole hard drive thing isn't much of an argument. I have had my 20gb hard drive since my first 360 and it is only maybe 25% full, and there is a ton of stuff I could delete that I don't need anymore.

Xbox 360 = A real gaming console

PS3 = Fancy Blu-ray player that has the ability to play games

Also this thread is not going to help you decide anything. The PS3 fans are going to say PS3 and the 360 fans are going to say 360. That's it that is all that will happen, nothing will be accomplished expect an argument over which one is better.

+1, you might want to decide for yourself...

i have both, and right now i'm wishing for a ps3, mainly being that most games on xbox are also available on the pc

Well i prefer PS3 for the blue-ray movies, more free storage, free wifi (for xbox 360 you have to pay for that) also you can play games online for free and on xbox 360 you have to pay. I think it's just personal opinion, many people like ps3 other xbox 360. I'm just ps3 fan.

27 million ps3's have been sold, 31 million xbox 360's. pretty close. but you also have to consider the amount of people who got rrod and were out of warranty and had to buy again

Wow, thats a lot closer than I realized.
Xbox seems to be more popular...at least in these parts. Just about everyone has a 360 and i only know 2 kids with a PS3.

Also, i dont think many people "bought again" due to RROD. Most were covered by warranty (but its a PITA to get it replaced).

Edit: Where did you get those numbers. I googled it and found 55 million 360s sold (which seems more accurate based on what I've seen). http://www.vgchartz.com/

Didn't they allow people to return Xboxs with the 3 RROD even if it was out of warranty? If not, I got lucky, because mine was out of warranty and I got it fixed up in a month, no hiccups at all.

yes, they increased the warranty period for RROD with 3 years iirc.
I had a RROD last year, send it back (had to print a UPS Label i got from microsoft, and the package was picked up at my door.) 3 days later I had a brand new xbox back. (even one with a better disk drive.) so I can only say 1 thing about the microsoft warranty, and that would be that its really well organized.
If I had to choose a console now, It'd still be the XBox 360.
I dont use Wifi myself, so that the PS3 has that doesnt help me in any way.
the Blu-Ray player, well, its nice, but dont play on a HD TV (at least, most of the time I dont, and the xbox can play games on HD resolution too. )
so If you already ahev a HD-TV with a blu-ray player, that doesnt make a difference either really.

Both are actually good consoles. i would look into the games you can buy for them.

Extremely good point. At the current time, I own both. I like the user interface of the PS3 better as well as the HD content available for the PS3, but that's relatively small items. The big things to consider are: what games look interesting to you to play, are they available on only one or the other, and then go from there. For me, the games Heavenly Sword, Uncharted and Little Big Planet are only available on the PS3. Those heavily outweigh Halo, which is the only game solely for the XBox that has interested me. But, that's just the games that have interested me.

There are other features that both have that are exclusive that are worth looking at; but in the end, if you aren't enjoying the games available to play, it's not worth anything.

Here's a fairly good, if not overwhelming list for both:

You also have to consider than Xbox 360 came out 1 year earlier than PS3

I've been brought up on Xbox stuff (i still got the limited ediction crystel see through old xbox lol) - so im automaticaly gonna prefer 360 but i do see why people like PS3, i dont really like it personly cuz i dont need the Blu Ray and i dont really do much online gaming so i dont mind tht u have to pay for Xbox live, with them so oh well... also at my favorite shop -- CEX ive noticed the 360 games r generally cheaper that the PS3s
