Bypassing blocked ports

Hi, I'm in college, but my school blocks pretty much EVERY incoming port on my computer, so that almost nothing that connects to servers will work. Proxies don't solve this problem. Is there any way I can bypass this blocking?

I tried and failed to create a SSH tunnel, but I might attempt again over the next break.

Hm. This is pretty much a grey area here at CF (welcome, BTW). Bypassing things is usually frowned on here as being against an institution's terms of service.

You say "...pretty much" and "...almost nothing". This implies that there are some working ports available to you.

I would say the first logical step would be to contact your college's IT department and ask them which port(s) you can use to access the sites you need.

I tried, and they said they won't unblock anything that isn't of 'educational value'. I could argue it a bit but this school is notoriously hard to move on their stances(they only recently allowed students to walk on the lawns). What I'm doing isn't against the terms of service, I just wanna play some online flash games. Like I said, proxies work for websites but not for the ports.

I'd dare to say then, that you're SOL. My guess is that the school admins don't want anyone using P2P or BitTorrent or streaming TV shows or movies. I hope someone else chimes in with a better answer.

Apparently some of the comp sci teachers are trying to get online games unblocked, but nothing has come of it yet.
