Why can't I print?

After installing Windows 7, when I try to print I get the message "An unknown error occurred while printing." According to my Windows Update history, the drivers for my Dell Inkjet 720 have been installed (though dated 2006). But I couldn't find any Windows 7 drivers on the website.

Does this sound like a driver issue? If so, would the Vista drivers work?

No, not yet. I did download the drivers he recommended, but I haven't followed the other steps yet because I wanted to get a clearer picture of what might be the problem. What he suggested seemed much more Vista-oriented (with the patch and all) and frankly, he didn't seem sure that it would even work. I don't want to mess anything up by blindly trying out his suggestion.

(And given that Windows Update already installed drivers, I wasn't sure if that was even the problem, so I thought I'd ask here just in case.)
