Am I weird for liking cases?

They seem like the least glamorous part of building a PC, but for some reason I really love browsing cases on Newegg! Am I alone? Can anyone explain this bizarre obsession? :)

I love browsing for cases, even though my cm storm scout is awesome. you are not alone :) of course i would never get anything less than what i have now. the scout is an awesome case.

What's your favourite case? I like the look of the Xclio 1000:

Well, I've only built one PC (described in my sig), so I don't have much experience working inside any other cases, but I can definitely say that the P182 is an amazing case. Plenty of room, side panel for cable management, well insulated against sound, plenty of airflow, very stylish....

Right now I'm planning to put together a list of components for a budget build, so I was looking at this one:

I might also try to put together a microATX list with this one:

DUDE I have the same addiction. I love the XClio Windtunnel because of it's price/full tower case.

I'm also looking at 800D a lot, but who isn't?... maybe i am alone.

I love cases too, especially the simple understanding kind. I also enjoy following niche cases, like desktop matx cases for compact portable gaming builds, mini-ITX cases for compact builds, and desktop ATX cases for monster HTPCs :).

I admit I do the same. Then again when I am bored I look at everything on newegg.

Xclio 1000 Now that is sexy Linkin...id hate to clean it every hour but still talk about air cooled ^-^

Some people hate it, but I like the Thermaltake Level 10

And yes, that's a case.

700$, though, I'd rather get a nice Lian Li or a whole build!

I really like the NZXT cases. I have the Apollo, Not bad, but I am look for something bigger for my two graphics cards. but i just got the apollo.

Looks sort of like an E-machine case.. I like how they put the extra venting/fan mounts on the side panel.

Actually I like e-machine cases. Good steel, not flimsy or cheap feeling, fit in tighter spots for a mini-tower and if you plan properly they can look rather nice inside when all the cabling is done.

Only problem is airflow. In the T2xx series the airflow is sort of lacking unless you modify it. T3xx series are a lot nicer as the side panel has a better venting.

Not a lot of "cool" factor with them but they make great sleepers if you plan the ventilation correctly. One of these days when I have an extra one kicking around I should do some metal work to one and see what I can come up with.

Should post some pics up of a cpl of stock reworks I did in cases like that.

to be honest i do the same, im always looking at cases on newegg, then again whenever im bored i just look through newegg anyways, id like to get a new case im using the case ive had for a couple years, i just keep putting new components inside it

But I'm wondering what those extra brackets are on the bottom, front of the case. There are also some of them directly above as well. The specs only mention 2 internal 3.5" bays, and I assume those are the slots located right underneath the 5.25" bays. A review I read mention that this was another HDD slot, but I'm not sure. At any rate, they seem removable...

Looked like drive rail mounts... some sort of metal bracket fits there I would think.. but then the pictorial wasn't all that detailed as far as extra parts included.. but I might have missed it as well

Yes yes yes. I love cases as well. I like the pretty colors on the fans. lol (Don't judge me).
Cases are something important to me cause #1 I'm obsessed with cooling down my components and #2 It's right above my monitor, so I look at it EVERY day.

Thermaltakes are nice :)

You're all weird.

I enjoy browsing through all the microchip stuff, you know, processors, motherboards, RAM, HDDs, oh did they have those new uber duped SSDs out?, hmm should I buy a new GPU...

Cases...eww... cases are boring, I tend to just pick one by looks as soon as I can and be done with it, always the last thing I look at when planning out a computer. Cases bore me to death, kinda like printers, or keyboards and mouses...

I find browsing for these things enjoyable. It adds a personal touch. A computer isn't just a tool, it's a hobby & passion.

Now *that's* the reaction I was expecting! :D

I gotta say my tastes for cases is way different than your guys

I like the clean simple look. Then mod them and still make them look like they are from the manufacture that way. Thats how I like cases

My Antec 300 fits just fine

Edit: I find myself looking at cases ALL the time even though, im satisfied with mine
