I'm doing this build for a friend and it will be used for video editing using adobe premier and playing the new wolfenstein game.

Intel Core i5 750 2.66ghz LGA 1156
Gigabyte GA-p55-UD4/DDR3/1394/ATX
Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3-1333 RAM
2 SEAGATE HDD 1TB 7200RPM SATAII 32MB NCQ
Pioneer DVR-218L 12X/22X SATA
Case and 500W psu

Would the 5870 1gb gigabyte be a good card for these two things or can you recommend something better? budget of around $200

The specs for premier are * 2GHz or faster processor for DV; 3.4GHz for HDV; dual 2.8GHz for HD*
* Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 (Service Pack 3 recommended) or Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 1 (certified for 32-bit Windows XP and 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Vista)
* 2GB of RAM
* 10GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on flash-based storage devices)
* 1,280x900 display with OpenGL 2.0–compatible graphics card
* Dedicated 7200 RPM hard drive for DV and HDV editing; striped disk array storage (RAID 0) for HD; SCSI disk subsystem preferred
* For SD/HD workflows, an Adobe-certified card for capture and export to tape
* OHCI-compatible IEEE 1394 port for DV and HDV capture, export to tape, and transmit to DV device
* DVD-ROM drive (DVD+-R burner required for DVD creation)
* Blu-ray burner required for Blu-ray disc creation
* Microsoft Windows Driver Model– or ASIO-compatible sound card
* QuickTime 7.4.5 software required to use QuickTime features
* Broadband Internet connection required for online services†

Ff the power supply comes with the case don't get it. Buy yourself a quality corsiar powersupply

the powersupply was going to be
Thermaltake LitePower 500W but i could get the 600W maybe if they can afford it. Doesn't come with case

so the 5770 would be a better card to run with premier than 5750 then?

If it is then i can suggest it but I think they would like to get the cheaper one to save money because chistmas is coming up but if the 5750 wouldn't even perferm well then i will say that it would have to be the 5770 as the other won't handle it.

thanks for advice so far.

yes, the 5770 has more cores than the 5750. basically it's like a 4850 (800 stream procs) against a 4830 (640 stream procs) and more stream processors is better all-around.
