Which one should i get?

Can someone list pros and cons for each? If not, then can you explain why one is better than the other? do keep in mind that heating problems and such do count as cons since i won't be getting a liquid cooling to go with this.

Seeing as the 5850 is almost as good as the GTX 285, it should be no question that the 5870 is the better choice. Direct X 11, eyefinity, and so on.

Dont say that too quickly....Nvidia might have something up their sleeves that totaly kicks the 5 series ass :P

We will have to see :)
Fermi quite definately will be more powerful than the 5 series cards, honestly i cant wait for them to come out, gonna be one heck of a card from what its specs show its supposed to be:D

i might go back to nvidia on my next upgrade,But thats far far away yet.....my 4890 will be fine for some time, when more DX11 Games come out il want that.....Tesselation and PHYSX :)

What does ati have on their cards then in place of PHYSX?

Ati doesnt have a competitor to physx at the moment afaik.

Honestly i would wait to see what fermi brings, however for 285 vs 5870, 5870 all the way.

PhysX isn't a good enough reason to decide on a brand, IMO. But that's just me... the 5870 will perform better and has more nice features, but I have to say CCC is absolute rubbish compared to NVIDIA control panel.

If you don't play any of the games that support PhysX and/or don't care for realistic physics all that much OR don't want a fancy-pancy feature-filled control panel, ATI is the way to go.

On a side note, NVIDIA folds a lot better compared to ATI... if you don't know what that means, this is irrelevant to your purchase.

I doubt they will be, just look at the current prices of nvidia cards and see what you can get from Ati for the same price.
