I am trying to setup a computer at my friends house that I want to make part of my servers domain witch is located at my house. I want the computer to be able to log in to my domain from his house. How can this be done? Though VPN?

You want him to authenticate to the domain server or access files? Your friend won't be part of your domain, will not receive group policy or authenticate against a server over the internet. You can set up roaming profiles and they can 'sync' and account and still be part of your domain.

If you are looking for screen sharing, remote desktop, and file sharing you need to set up the VPN service, or go with a web based product like logmein.com, but the free version does not allow for file sharing.

I haven't done it a long time, but I am sure google and MS white pages could walk you through it. When your friend is off site, he will authenticate locally, as it will 'cache' the roaming profile to his laptop/desktop or whatever machine you set it up for. Initial log in must be inside your domain's network.
