Im a dead man.

I was installing something on my girlfriends computer and noticed a malware warning popup and ignored it thinking it was nothing as I trusted the install.
On reboot the system starts to load then screen goes black.
Can still enter the BIOS but that's it.
Any ideas? I may die.Please don't say REFORMAT!!

Shes asleep atm "up all night trying to fix it".
Our friend whos more of the comp expert has done that before so that might be a good option.tks

Copy ALL the HDD contents to some other USB HDD using the Ubuntu OS and then plug in that USB HDD in some other computer and scan it for viruses and then repair the OS using its CD or DVD from which the operating system was installed.

If you want to make your life more simple,do a fresh install WITHOUT losing your girlfriend's data.Simply copy all important data to some other HDD or USB flash drive using again the Ubuntu OS.

You can recover any data using a Linux LiveCD such as UBUNTU, and just copy files to an external HD or flash drive once you get into the OS. BE CAUTIOUS however as any data you remove from the old PC may be infected with the same virus that tanked it. Probly wanna run a scan on that data before you copy it to another computer.
