Hello i have windows 7 64bit os on an msi neo2 945p ms-7176 i have a 2.8 celeron d dual core processor , 512mb nvidia gforce pci express video. My problem is i have 4gig of ram and it will only recognize 3.2 ive checked bios cant find nothing, ive checked for bios update but couldnt find nothing. i think the bios is 3.0 ..i heard something about memory remapping but couldnt find it in the bios? Can someone help me please?

Are you sure you are running 64bit? If you are, then its a memory setting in the bios causing the issue. What does system properties say for operating system?

yep im positive its 64-bit. its a fresh install as well. everything from the system info to properties also confirms its 64

hit start, type msconfig and hit enter. go to the boot tab, click on advanced. Uncheck maxmem if it is checked. you might also want to check the numproc box, it makes boot times faster (for windows) click apply and restart.

To confirm all the RAM is recognised, restart your computer. when it POST's you should see how much memory is installed. for 4GB it should be around 4120000k (roughly)

Did you get yours figured out? You had the same issue recently, right?

Yes, it was the maxmem set to 4gb that caused it. i had it set to 4gb, but after applying, closing the msconfig and opening it again, maxmem was set to 0mb, rather than 4096mb. even after restarting it was set to 0mb.

mine was already unchecked and it still dosent show up. i looked on msi's website and they said it might be a chipset limitation? anybody know anything about that?

Yes, it is a chipset limitation. 940P has a total address space of 4GB.

So it is like running a 32bit edition of Windows, now you are just limited by your hardware instead of your OS.
