Ridiculous Ethernet Controller Driver Problem (XP, Can't find driver ANYWHERE)

Hello all, obviously new to the forums but I was taken here in search for a specific Ethernet Controller driver, that apparently just doesn't exist anymore or something..

So I had reformatted a few weeks ago, ran into a problem with my Ethernet Controller Driver eventually downloaded a Unknown Device Finder and it told me I had some VIA Tech Ethernet Driver. Well, that one was easy to find, I installed it and it worked fine my problem was fixed or so I thought. Few days later, randomly, after a restart of my computer I was apparently missing an Ethernet Controller again and my LAN connection had disappered from the Network Connections list. So, I pulled up my UKF (Unknown Device Finder) again and it was now telling me that I needed a different driver than before... um.... wtf? So I went to try and find this new driver I needed and it is just impossible to find.

I now need a VIA Tech VT82C570 MV IDE Controller. I visted VIA Tech's website and they don't even have it.. what the hell?

So I guess my question(s) are, does anyone know where to find this driver? (I actually found a website that has it but requires registration for their site and I tried (or have tried several times) and never recieved an activation email.. ridiculously fustrating)

and also if anyone knows why exactly I needed one driver before (and it worked fine) and now suddenly need some other one?

I guess I might as well say that I tried installing the old one again, but that did nothing.. don't know how relevent this is but I am using a (P.O.S.) Dell and running SP3

If anyone has any ideas, that would be awesome. Thanks.

Is it built into your motherboard? If so it should be bundled with your motherboard driver CD, or available for download through your motherboard manufacturer's website.

In all honesty, I do not know. I would imagine it is built in (seeing as it's a pretty standard comp. nothing special done to it besides extra ram)

I do know that I unfortunately do not have the motherboard driver CD (or if I ever even got one) and my guess of who manufactured it would be Dell? Funny, when I ran into this problem the first time I actually visted Dell's site and put in my Service Tag and aqquired all the (apparent) old drivers my computer was using. Every driver was correct and worked besides the Network adapter, which was listed as an Intel (something) I tried installing it and it didn't work. Which led me to the UDF and so forth.

Also, I am very surprised (and releaved) that someone was able to reply so quickly, thank you.

That is not an lan driver, that is the IDE controller driver, as in needed for your cdrom drives or hard drive if you have an older machine that uses IDE hard drives. However, the IDE controller usually gets installed automatically during the install of the OS. Maybe this has gotten corrupted. So what you can do is go back into device manager, right click on that device and click on uninstall, then reboot the computer and see if windows will reinstall the driver correctly. Can you take a screen shot of your device manager and let us see it?

What you need to do is go back to dell and enter your service tag to get the proper drivers for you specific model of computer.
