No signal to the monitor

Guys i'm having a slight problem,
Last night I installed windows 7 and just after it was done I tried running the windows score thing and my computer froze halfway through it. I had to manually power it off and turn it back on. When I turned it back on the monitor kept saying No signal even though the computer was running with fans and lights on. I took out the RAM and heard the 3 beeps, took out the video card and put it back in, changed monitors and still nothing. Does anyone know where I can start to look for the problem?
 
Did you verify the monitor was still good by testing on a different computer? If so, then you are either looking at a bad video card or memory. What power supply are you using?
 
Its a 500W power supply
When I had windows 7 64bit installed it only read like 2.66GB of RAM.
I bought a new card 9800GT but I can't install it without taking the drivers off for the old one, I'm not sure how to do that without a monitor.

Also my keyboard lights do not come on when the computer is running.
 
You can try just putting in the new video card but i doubt that will fix anything. What brand is the power supply though? If you bought a cheap brand that could be the issue.
 
What have you tried diagnosing so far? It could be one of a few different parts. Do you have a friend that could help you change parts to figure out the problem? Have you ran a memtest yet. Can you borrow a power supply from someone?
 
Actually no, No one I know is computer savvy or as into computers enough to get anything good, I have some old computers, I tried putting in one of my old HD just to see if it would boot up but It had the same problems, I changed video cards and used the onboard AGV slot and nothing showed up on my monitor. All my older power supplies are too low wattage to even try. I'm just seeing if there is anything that a non knowledgable person can try before sending it in to the shop.
 
Are you near Naperville by chance? I'm not too far from there, I can come check it out for you if you want.
 
Actually I live in Naperville, I wouldn't want you to go through all that trouble for me, I'm just seeing if there is an "easy" check that I can do before handing it over to someone a lot more experienced to take care of it.
 
The only thing you could do would be to start replaceing parts until you found out what was wrong, but if you don't have extra parts, thats kind of hard to do. My offer stands if you want me to look at it. I have a computer repair business on the side, really cheap.
 
If its gonna take me some time, I bring them back and work on them. Which in your case, thats probably what i would do.

Well I am planning to take a look at it tonight when i have some free time but I doubt I'll actually do anything productive with it, I am kinda in a rush to get the thing up and running and if you have some reasonable time to get the work done, maybe a week time frame or so. Off the top of your head how long do you think it will actually take to diagnose it, worst case of course, running through most of the tests you have outlined? I'm sure it's possible for it to be something real easy. How is your schedule looking if I did want to drop it off?
 
I'm usually open. I could meet you in Joliet somewhere.

As far as time frame, a day or two to figure out whats wrong. If its an easy fix and easy to get the parts then should only take a few days.
