gts 260 vs. radeon 5770

Well 260 pretty much beats a 5770 frames wise from what I have seen.

5770 crossfires better then the 260s in SLI if you plan to do this later and its 40nm vs 65nm (was this true for 216 or just for 192 core 260?) so it might overclock better then the 260 thus giving it the edge over it.
Then it has DX11 which if you wont upgrade for a few years then it would be wise to think about it as DX11 will be a year or so away and with luck is actually used where DX10 was hardly ever used.
I guess it falls to what your needs are....whats your upgrade time (mine is 1-2 years per upgrade) and what your system specs are and if you plan to crossfire/sli later in the future.

i would just go for the ati 4890 (not much more than the 5770) if dx11 doesnt bother you, bare in mind most games are still using dx9....

I believe the newer 260 runs on a 55nm process, but yes twist and everyone here is right, single card performance, the 260 is better, not by a whole lot though.
 
A lot of DX11 games are coming out in 2010, so it's your choice... personally i would get a 5770, which i am hoping to do.
 
The 5700 series are decent cards, but my only problem with them, is when they come out with DX11 games, won't they become more graphically demanding??, i mean, would the 5700 even be powerful enough to play games on high?

At a decent resolution, yes. I am talking 1280x1024, 1680x1050, 1440x900 and similar here.
