I have a computer my daughter gave me. a uncle added more memory to a intel motherboard. it has two 1 gig mem sticks. my question is (i think its bank 0 with two slots) (and bank 1 with two slots). he added 1 gig to bank 0 and the other to bank 1).

should of these two 1 gig been added to bank 0 leave bank 1 with two slots empty?

thanks

one other thing ive had the computer for a couple months now.
Works fine. it shows two gig ok. i was just blowing it out and took notice.

You are trying to run dual channel correct? For dual channel, the sticks will need to be in DIMM_A1 and DIMM_B1, or DIMM_A2 and DIMM_B2 (they will be labelled and/or coloured on the motherboard)

thanks. ...... i will look at the motherboard and get the info. she gave it to me.
just another job.
ill let ya know.
thanks

the motherboard is intel d865glc.
im looking at the info for mem.
says ch a dimm connector 0
ch a dimm connector 1

ch b dimm connector 0
ch b dimm connector 1

the two 1 gigs are both plugged into connector zero (channel a and b).

is it right?

For dual channel, yes it is.
Installing DIMMs

Before installing DIMMs, read and follow these guidelines for dual channel configuration.
NOTE

Performance Acceleration Technology (PAT) requires a processor with 800 MHz FSB frequency
and DDR400 memory.

Install a matched pair of DIMMs equal in speed, size, and technology (see Figure 8) in
DIMM 0 in both channels A and B.

Hi,

I too have 2x1GB DDR 400 sticks in slots of the same colour of my D915GLVG motherboard. Could someone tell me if i can also install my old 256MB DDR 400 ram in a slot of the other colour? Will it hamper my PC performance?

Thanks.
