One video card powering two monitors

Hey, I was wondering if I could run two monitors of of one video card. What I mean by this is, I have one 26 inch monitor that would display my video game, then the other one would display stuff like aim, msn, teamspeak, ect. Also, if I can do this how would I controll the second monitor with only one mouse and one keyboard.
 
you can do this if your video card supports it, your mouse will automatically move accross the screen to the other screen which could be annoying if your playing games
 
It does work, you have to set it up correctly though, and your video card must have ports for more than 1 monitor.

As for gaming, most games will lock the mouse into the game, therefore you will not be able to do anything on the other monitor, you will have to minimize to access anything on it (unless of course you play your games in windowed mode...although not all games support this.).
 
Oh, well I had seen a video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/v/Kx-CVmuqgn4&hl=en_US his setup he has for his main game (ARMA 2) but his other monitor he does separate tasks. Now if what you are saying is true that I would have to minimize the game in order to use the other monitor I sense if having the other monitor if I could just minimize the game and then have the programs on my main screen. Also, off topic question, but will my new ATI Radeon 5850 preform just aswell as his 4870x2?

When I had two monitors hooked up, I ran my games in a Window, then I would just Alt+Tab to get to other applications. This will leave the game window open, and not minimize it. Did it alot when we ran BF 2142 servers to keep CC open to boot the tards. :D
 
most commercially bought laptops support this feature. If you have an extra monitor laying around you could hook it up to your laptop (if you have one that is). I did it to mine took me like 5 minutes.
