gamer, the movie... FPS fans needed!

I just watched "gamer" and I enjoyed every bit of it but one thing baffles me, maybe some fellow fps players can chip in....

During some of the fight scenes there were random people dressed in grey hospital clothes walking around aimlessly, they seemed oblivous to the action around themselves. One guy was pushing a broom and just got shot, another woman walked across a street and got ran over, unaware that a truck was driving in her direction.

What do these robotic & retarded characters signify? What do they have to do with the game?
 
if im not wrong, those people are prisoners too. but they only have to survive 1 match to gain freedom, instead of 30 like the rest of the "gamers".
 
Well what I understood it was a punishment with a high % of death for them as everyone would shoot them like the guy with broom.
Personally I liked the movie but it was a 1 time view for me...not many new movies have any real depth in them anymore.


Another one you might like though from Gerard Butler is a movie called Law Abiding Citizen and The Ugly Truth.
Those are 2 movies I will be buying on DVD...truly fantastic and Ugly Truth was a pretty good comedy. I am quickly becoming a fan of Gerard Butler.

Yeah, Law Abiding Citizen was really quite good.
