Cannot obtain proper resolution

Hello all, I am new to this forum, and I have a couple issues with my box.

I'll start with this one.

I have a Intel Dual Core, 2.0Ghz CPU, 2GB DDR2 RAM, HIS Radeon 3870HD video card, running Win7, and a 22" LG LW226T monitor.

I am having an issue obtaining the resolution 1680X1050, which is what the monitor wants. However, I cannot find it in either the Catalyst menu, or Display Properties.

I had this same issue on my old XP box, but I did something, whether it was enable or disable something, and I got it to go to 1680X1050, but I forgot what I did :(

Newest drivers have been installed for the card and the monitor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

How is it connected to the monitor? I'm not positive but I don't think vga is capable of that many pixels.

I'm running my LG W2242T @ 1680x1080 through VGA, it appears it is ;) Update all your Catalyst drivers.

***EDIT***
Oh, you already updated all drivers. I'll look around Catalyst for something for you.

Yes it is capable of reaching 1680x1050. It can reach up to 2560x1600
It has "Ultimate Image Quality" – Performance that rivals high-end HD-DVD and Blu-ray players on displays with resolutions that exceed 1080p and up to 2560x1600.

Try downloading newer drivers for your ATi here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Did you install DirectX 10.1? One of most important, what power supply you've got> You need at least 450W and 1GB of RAM:

* PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard
* 450 Watt or greater power supply with 75 Watt 6-pin PCI Express® power connector recommended
* 1GB of system memory recommended
* Installation software requires an optical drive

If that will not help, try putting it into second slot on your GPU, sometimes one of them can be damaged/faulty.

Go through everything on http://ati.amd.com/products/Radeonhd3800/index.html

Maybe try contacting ATi in some way aswell

Yes it recognizes my monitor.

I've tried making my own driver using PowerSplit or w/e it is, and that didn't work.

I have all the newest catalyst and video drivers installed.

I have a 500@ PSU with a dedicatyed 6PIN PCI-e power connector
I have 2GB of RAM

I've been told that its a compatibility issue between VGA and Win7.

Anyone hear this?

Hi ! my name is NarrowChi, I think there is a problem with your driver. So you ought to update or install a
compatible driver for your LG monitor.

NarrowChi, I have all the latest drivers for my monitor. I got them directly from the LG site, I have tried without them, I have tried with them, I have tried everything. MAking my own driver, b ut no matter what I do, I CANNOT see the 1680X1050 resolution in either the Catalyst Center, OR windows display properties.

I even clicked the "show hidden resolutions" or whatever it is, and this is what I get:

1440X900
1600X1200 <--- doesn't fit on my screen
1920X1080 <--- Out of range for Analog

Is your refresh rate set right?

yes, @ 60hz

Thing is, it's not like it's available to choose, than it not work. The fact is, it's not even an option. The same card, same drivers, I could obtain 1680X1050 on VGA on XP, did the same thing on Win7, and I don't even have an option to use 1680X1050
