i have a new computer with an older hd that had a previous version of windows xp on it.

what i upgraded to is a dual core intel processor with new ram new dvd drive new memory etc, however when it omes time for windows to boot up under normal circumstances it hangs and reboots the entire sytem, i can get into safe mode where i was able to update a good 90% of the drivers but still no go for a normal boot, the second problem i am having which is of a lesser concern is windows isnt even seeing the new hard drive which is a sata 1TB drive but it sees the older ide with windows on it. any help suggestios etc?

Sorry, but you need to do a fresh install of windows. You can't put an old harddrive with an old install of xp and put it in a new computer with new hardware and expect it to boot up.

I think your computer is infected by a spyware. Getting rid of this infection, something must be done by you. You need to reinstall the operating system to solve the problem. Get the installation CD from a nearby shop or from the internet.

I think that the problem with your OS is that you are using a Dual Core CPU.
What you can do is extract the folder DEPLOY from your Windows XP CD and
put the sysprep working.
What is gonna do is basically reseal your windows XP and gonna reboot.
So when he boots up he gonna try to change the (i think is a driver)
that controls if the single CPU and Multi-CPU is installed in the machine.
They are diferent files in Windows, so if you reseal it, it gonna try to look
for all the hardware again and hopefully gonna load the correct one for your Dua cpu.

You guys are so far off its not funny.

Ive read it your original post again..
and i still think that the original problem with your rig is that is loading the incorrect drivers.
it needs to be sealed again.
About your HDD try and check on your Disk Management under the Computer Management
and check if windows started the device or not.
If it did, check if he have an Partition letter atached to it.
If not,Check your BIOS..

So you never putted an XP from one machine and putting running it another machine before?
I am tired of doing that with diferent Hardware. and everything.

I am tired to people solve problems with boots and solve them with formats...
if its some drivers or a few system files why not make it?

Because its always best to do a fresh install, less issues that way. And technically you get a faster computer with a fresh install.
