I don't want to delete this if you've set up active desktop or anything.

Hi John,

Thanks for your reply. I'm not having any problems right now, but I don't want anything hidden either. I am not sure about the active desktop. What is that?

You can set active desktop to display a webpage in your background if you wish. However, malware also uses this as a way to display that your infected on your desktop. But since you didn't know what it was, its safe to delete it.

So go ahead and rerun hijackthis and place a check in that box and click on fix checked at the bottom.

Can you also provide me with an uninstall list in hijackthis. Do this by opening hijackthis, click open misc tools section, open uninstall manager, click on save list. Copy and paste that list back here. I think you are running an older version of acrobat reader which we need to get rid of.

Reboot the computer and then post a fresh hijackthis log. There are some entries that I want to make sure have disappeared.

Hi John,

I deleted the O24 Desktop Component and it deleted my desktop background. I found the .JPG file and tried to set as desktop background but now I can't:o lol

Any advice?

What happens when you right click on the jpg and click on set as desktop background?
