A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer-

PROCES1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen,
restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer
for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware
or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.
If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components. restart
your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then
select Safe Mode.

I got a sony vaio vgn21es..
I searched google but nothing, every problem has different causes and sigles.

I tried windows debugging tools in particular windbg, but since I don't have any crash dump files I can't analyze anything...

no installated software recently, no virus, pc in healty status with windows 7 ultimate...

only thread found is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/115579
but I don't understand what I have to do...

no safe mode, I also tried last known configuration pressing F8..

Only possible cause is: an external hardisk connected to pc via usb...but not installed...
I don't know if the hardisk has virus or is burned..

If you use Roxio, alot of their programs have links to this BSOD, if not, then that clearly isn't the problem :P

From googling for hardware things it would seem it is either HDD or memory error.

You can test your memory easily, go here:

http://hcidesign.com/memtest/download.html

download the program and run it for a couple of hours. If any errors show in that time your memory is probably at fault.

If that shows nothing you can fairly conclusively say that your RAM is alright, but there aren't many tools to test your hard drive, atleast not well.

Run the chkdsk tool in windows to make sure that windows isn't corrupt or has any major issues and that your hard drive has no bad sectors.

to do this press the start button (the one with the windows logo on your keyboard) and r

type in "cmd" (without quotation marks)

type in "chkdsk volume:/r" (without quotation marks)

let it run. if it says

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts?

press y and when it is done, restart the computer and let it do the chkdsk (don't skip it).

Post back if that flags anything up

LoL my guess is that he can't even get into Windows operating system at all so this won't be possible to be done inside of the Windows environment wether if its inside of the NORMAL MODE,SAFE MODE,SAFE MODE WITH COMMAND PROMPT or whatever mode he tryes...

Anyway computerses89 you can do that what Aastii told you,but if you can't get into Windows OS or in any possible its mode such as SAFE MODE or SAFE MODE WITH COMMAND PROMPT,you can do the same thing by using your Windows 7 DVD-ROM disk.Boot from the Windows 7 DVD-ROM disk into the system recovery options screen and there select the command prompt. Here is how the system recovery options window looks like. The command prompt is at the bottom:
15576d1259400579-how-create-system-repair-disk-windows-7-vista-w7-recdisc3.jpg

So select the command prompt and inside of the command prompt write the following command:

CHKDSK C: /f /r

Press the ENTER button on your keyboard...
"C:" = This is your drive letter. If your drive letter is different then instead of "C:" write your drive letter...

If the above command doesn't work then probably your volume has to be dismounted. That means that all opened handles to the volume would be invalid. So write the following command if the above command doesn't work:

CHKDSK C: /f /r /x

Press the ENTER button on your keyboard...

Now let this process to finish. It can take a VERY VERY VERY long time even up to 10 hours so let it finish.DO NOT CANCEL IT!!!!!!!!!

After the process is complete and you are still getting the blue screen, from the system recovery options window choose the first option called "Startup Repair".

After that is finished and you are still getting the blue screen, make sure that your RAM chips and your HDD are working properly! You can test your RAM by again going to that system recovery options window and there choose the option called "Windows Memory Diagnostic".

If your RAM and HDD are working properly, the reason might be that some other hardware components are damaged or if thats not the case (and lets hope its not:D) then the reason can be that you have installed some bad software or even wrong drivers. Also what can definetely be the reason is the Windows registry. If you have done any bad changes to the Windows registry then I am definetely sure thats the reason for the blue screen. If you did not touch the Widnows registry then probably some of the recently installed programs has screwed up the Windows registry. You can however replace the Windows registry files with other undamaged Windows registry files. Here is the location where your Windows registry files are and needs to be replaced:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\

Here is the location where you have undamaged Windows registry files that were created with the Windows installation:

C:\WINDOWS\repair\

You can replace these registry files either by using MS-DOS or by using the Command Prompt from your Windows 7 DVD-ROM disk or by using the Linux Ubuntu 9.04...

If this did not help then the reason can also be the virus. However there are MANY MANY types of viruses so I can't know what type of virus you might have...

Also be sure that you DID NOT make any changes to your BIOS!

Anyway try all this and if it did not help, let me know.

Cheers mate and don't worry about losing your data because even if you will be forced to reinstall the entire Windows OS,there is a simple way to save all your data!Of course I am saying this ONLY if the Windows reinstallation is the ONLY option. But first try the things I mentioned above...

Cheers everyone!

well a very good and informative post, at least by content (in all honesty, after the first paragraph I didn't read it :P) but my friend, I am not a mind reader, the first post says nothing about being able or not being able to get in to windows, just not safe mode and just not being able to go to last known good configuration

guys you're very kindly..but unfortunately I've already tried to boot from win7 dvd using startup repair and memory diagnostic tool...but nothing

I also run a chkdsk via prompt..nothing again!!anyway I noticed a strange thing, that is chkdsk took very short time..about 5 minutes and not 10 hours!!??

anyway mates I do not make changes to windows registry or bios settings...no installed software.

About drivers, I can say that I tried to install them for the hardisk, but since they were all for win98 I think that no one was installed...altough I clicked on them!

I don't think they are the causes, because I rebooted the pc few times, and it has never happened anything....
the problem started when I connected the external hardisk before starting pc...

Holy shit 5 minutes only?!!!:D
That's not normal unless your HDD is almost completely empty xD

Was that external HDD empty or was something on it?Because if it was there is a good chance that it contained the viruses...

Have you done any kind of overclocking? because that is a very common thing when have pushed the system just beyond its limits. also you might try clearing CMOS using the jumper on your MOBO, you'll have to get your manual to find the jumper.

This is completely true.Hey jacman747 maybe he overclocked it so hard that some of his hardware got fried xD:DThis is very common too xD:D
