Whats the 4 pin connector to the mobo do?

As the title says...I basically need to know what the 4 pin connector is for. Can i max my computer (like in gaming):

Sapphire HD3850
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+
4GB ram
5x80mm fans
2 hard drives
dvd drive

without it? I am asking because a mobo that i bought, the 4 pin connector is dead, and since i already did the MIR for it, the upc code is gone meaning they may not replace the mobo :( so I need to know what the connector is for. Here is a pic to make everything a little more clear:

Dont see why they would not as long as its still under warranty. But like OMEGA said, are you sure the 4 pin line on the power supply is not dead?

Yeah, I am. And I am because I tested it with two PSU's. The only thing different with both setups was the PSU, and the computer would start up as long as I left the 4-pin connector out. PLUS right now I am using my new psu with my old mobo with the 4 pin connector plugged in and it works so....

Well, barring the fact you prolly should have spent a few bucks more to get something other than an ECS board, id recommend rmaing the board to ECS. The UPC code being cut out has nothing to due with a manufacture rma, only when returning a product to newegg/store.
