I have never built a computer before so any help with my build will be appreciated. Any suggestions on better parts would be great, but please give a reason for the change. This computer will hopefully be used for high end gaming. Price range $500.

Thank you very much.

I'm not the most enlightened on graphics cards but I don't think a 4670 would be considered a "high end" graphics card (especially a 512). Maybe someone else can chime in on it.

yes i agree with linkin for that little price increase, ur getting alot more performance and a little leeway for a greater resolution

i'd honestly skip the cpu/gfx combo and spend a little less on the cpu and more on the graphics. or skip on paying for windows. you could use linux or something for a bit.

or wait if you really want a real gamer. i'd personally think of it as more of a mid range than high end.

You can also get this CPU if you very limited budget, and it still performs better than any AMD dual core

Show me the a link to back that up! Looks to me the Phenom II 550BE beats it at about everything, plus the chance to unlock the 550 to a quad on top on that.

The 550BE is more equal to the i3 /530/540 that cost 25/45 bucks more. And thats not even throwing in the Phenom II 720BE.

The i3 already has 4 threads(hyperthreading), uses much less power, and you can overclock the piss out of them, even on the stock cooler. Someone on here posted a review that had some awesome results, though admittedly it was with a test model.

If any of that had any thing to do with what I was talking about let me know. I already know what a i3/5 is!

Back to what I said, show me how many benchmarks the Pentium G6950 beats the Phenom II 550BE?

For that matter how well the 550BE does against the Intel 540

And not with any anandtech Intel fanboy site.

That pentium is a clarkdale....basically a toned-down i3. I forgot that it's missing hyper-threading though.

Have you read the review you posted? They hit 4.3GHz with the pentium.

I'm not saying it's head and shoulders over the 550 at all, but I do think that its newer architecture gives it an advantage.
