heeey,

i am currently in the process of building and organsing a new computer, and was wondering if I could have some assistance in ensuring that all the components are compatible with one another.

I am looking at the Intel i5 processing family.
Thanks,

That processor is one of the dual-core Clarkdale models, same as the i3 and Pentium Pentium G6950. It needs an H55 or H57 motherboard.

That mobo is a P55, which works with the quad core Lynnfield i5 and i7 models.

I'd swap to the i5 750. It's actually faster, despite the lower clock speed.

And if you want to spend a bit more dough, there's the i7 860, which is similar to the i5 750 but hyper-threaded. Performance is 25-40% better on average...depends on the program.

I almost commented on the ridiculous prices, but then I realized it's an aussie site. :(

Thanks for that, so if I was to get:
i7 860

Would you recommend a full size motherboard, I only realised there is only one PCI slot on the EVGA one.....
I currently have an ASUS mobo, but I find the software to be very bad and it does not work often.... Should I purchase a different motherboard, whhich is compatible with the i7 860?

Thanks,

----- edit:
This seems like a much better motherboard as it feat. USB3, and SATA 6gb/s....
should I find an ASUS branded graphics card..?

The new board looks good to me :)

You don't have to match the graphics card's brand to the motherboard, though asus does make good cards. (so does EVGA)
