Hi all, Im running a crosshair2 with 2 Gtx 275s in sli , I Had an athlon 5200+ and was bench marking at 52890 in 3dmark 03

I took out my athlon and dropped in the new phenom 2 965 , It is The later C3 stepping model CACAC AC 0952

Im now bench marking at 22000 WTF DAMN DAMN DAMN  I am really Dis Chuffed, My cores are indicating 3400mhz all 4 cores are showing in device manager and in performance taskman tab But my performance is LAME

Has anyone else experienced this problem or can anyone shed some light on the issue???

I am running the latest bios 2202

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but why did futuremark change the scoring between versions?

Don't know... Im guessing because speeds increase so much and the earlier versions arnt really upto testing the new machines, I mean i was getting way over 1000fps , But in 3dmark05 i think it scored arround 15,000, Which has now been halfed!!! to a mear 7,500 , When it should have doubled

Cmon someone please why is my athlon 6000+ urinating Rings round this brand new 965 whats going on ?

Well, I understand now, thanks. I remember running 3dmark05 and getting about 12000 and comparing that to the ~60000 scores out there. I thought my computer was really slow (look at my specs, it's not :P )

Hope you find an answer.

Thanks me too , Its driving me nuts

You have CPUz to make sure clockspeed is accurate?

If task manager shows 4 threads than all 4 cores are running....so it must be clock speed.

What were the CPU scores between the 5200 and 965?

Run a newer version of 3dmarks, like 06 or something. There is a lot of stuff on your rig that 03 can't utilize.

Think this might be it , I just reinstalled with Vista ulitmate 64bit, didnt make much difference had a look in bios and it appeared some sort of autop multiplier/clock was set , Iv now set it to 17.5/225 with Vcore of 1.425 and it is rock stable at 3.9ghz , im just running 3dmark 05 as we speak to see if this has cured it i will know in a few minutes

Edit "blue screen Cpu test not enough Vcore" brb

errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr  I'm going to not comment on those comments... must fight the urge.

Have you updated your bios? Drivers and any other variable's
03 is much less of a cpu whore than 06 and vantage so check your cards clocks etc ;)

Looks like that was the problem , I think windows was lieing about the core speed... I have read other articles of people getting inicial speeds of 800mhz which i suspect might have been what i was getting.....

Im now running at 17.5/225 @ 1.4500V
Core temp is at 48C max

3dMark 05 Score 25926 :D

THANKS GUYS!!!!

Now... time to overclock the 275s and take it up a notch on the cpu

Well I've been toying around with a few c3's here lately. I've had a lot better luck with the 955's. Not sure why and I can only hypothesize its due to leakage. The 955's are also rated @ 125w with a lesser frequency, which could be due to higher leakage. Since, from what I've been told they determine the wattage by the amount of heat output at a certain frequency. Higher leakage is a good thing in a phenom II.

3.9 seems to be the best i can get without going above 1.475 volts

All though this could be down to my memory speed , I really want to run at 4.2 but im scared to run over 1.5 volts

Don't worry about it man, anything up to 1.60 is fine as long as your temps stay in check.

I tried up to 1.65 Vcore with my Phenom II 550 (unlock to a quad) to get 4.0ghz stable, but nothing worked. 3.9 was my max, which too 1.575 to get stable.
