Corsair TX 750W PSU FAN HELP!

And I really need help.
The problem is that my Corsair TX 750W PSU's
fan really annoys me. It makes like this noise every
second or so, activating the fan.

It's hard to describe, but lets say the fan is at 20% at this second,
and the other second, it's at 80%..
Almost like it's going from low to high every sec. What the hell is this
shit? Annoys me real bad.

Oh and, to make sure but I don't think it matters, I didn't get any power cable from them,
so I used my ps3's power cable, I guess it doesn't matter, it a 3 pin cable, why should they
be different?
 
Where did you buy the computer from?

That's odd, and I would contact Corsair for an RMA, although they may make you go through the place you bought it, since it's an OEM machine.

Either way, I would be returning it.
 
I bought it from komplett.se, a big computer store in the nordic.
It's not an OEM machine, it's custom built.

Also, I noticed it stopped doing this when I am writing this :O

Custom built to your specs, but built by the store none the less, therefore it's considered an OEM machine.

I would take it back where you got it, so they can RMA the power supply, because you won't be able to since you didn't purchase the power supply retail.
 
but doesn't OEM mean they locked it and stuff, so that you can't OC, because
I am pretty sure they haven't done anything but put it together. Komplett.se is like newegg.com, just that they offer people to put the PC together.
What does RMA mean?

EDIT: oh, rma means to send it back to corsair. :(
seriously, I have no problem of it doing that, because I play with headset,
all I want to know if it's dangerous or something?

Another question:
It's not dangerous to use ps3's power cable huh?
because this is my case :=)
 
It would be a mistake to ignore this problem, just because you use headphones and can't hear the issue.

If there's a problem, it should be fixed, otherwise if the power supply fails, it could destroy other components as well, like your processor, RAM, etc.

Take it back where you got it and get it fixed. :cool:

Any 3 pin power cord that fits into the port will work. They're universal.
 
Taking it back is definitely still a good idea. But, does it happen with other games or just GTA 4? And are the other games more intensive than that one? I definitely would take care of this issue as quickly as possible though, because that type of stress on the unit can't be good for the fan motor; and if it blows, the PSU as a whole may overheat fail and take other components with it, like was mentioned before.
 
Isn't the TX750W one of those self-adjusting fan speed PSUs? Maybe the fan's not the issue... maybe your GPUs are sucking up too much power causing the PSU to heat up causing the fan to speed up?

Nah, it's not when in or out of any game. The PSU does this all the time. But at some points, it will stop doing it. For example when I move the case around (I am doing this because I am unsure where to place my PC :) ) and then it starts to do it again after like 10 minutes.

I do not think this is caused by any components taking too much power. This computer was custom built for me by a company in sweden, they seem to have done a pretty good job,
and all the parts are chosen to best fit together.
However, my theory of this problem would be the controller that tells the fan to accelerate is broken, thus making the fan go crazy. As I said, this is really annoying if you don't use headphones. I tried posting this at corsair support forums, that seems to be dead..
 
The place I got it from is just a website, so I will actually have to send it all the way to them.. What does happen if I sign a RMA? WIll they get it from me?

That was my whole point.

You did not buy the power supply "Retail", you bought it installed in a "Pre Built" computer.
 
no, no. You guys don't understand. From what I know, HP and dell and
other brands like that build the computers OEM and don't allow you to
do anything, as it breaks warranty and other stuff. This computer is exactly
as if I ordered all the parts from newegg.com and built it myself. It's NOT prebuilt. But in this case, replace newegg and make it komplett.se, they have
built it for me. They do offer support, so I am going to do my best.

However. This problem does not seem to harm my pc in any way, I have run
it for hours and hours, even nights, and it's stable. It even stops doing the noise
sometimes. What I will try now is to run windows in safe mode, and then
open the case if there's anything strange inside. I don't know much, but could
it be that they put the psu fan controller cable in the wrong connector to the motherboard?

And also, just to say again, I am using a playstation 3 power cable, since
mine was missing, I doubt this is the problem, since they are universal,
am I right?

I'm not talking about a locked BIOS such as name brand OEM's have, I'm just
saying you did not buy the power supply retail, and therefore may not be able to RMA the unit yourself directly with Corsair. I'm not sure, that's why I posted the link so you could try it.

Not hurting anything now, but how long do you think a faulty power supply will last? It might last until it's out of warranty...

If you choose to run the unit "as is" and risk damage to the rest of your hardware, the best of luck to you.

I would replace the d@m thing now while you still can under some sort of warranty, because if you wait too long, you'll be paying out of pocket for new hardware.
