Has anyone OC'ed an E7400?

Just wondering if anyone has had success with a similar overclock.

3.713Ghz
1485 fsb = 371 x 10
1.368V
1.300 fsb volt
1.320 NB volt

I thought I could get more out of it, but I don't want to up my vcore past ~1.365v. DRAM adjusted to 743Mhz (CPU-Z shows 8GB Ram, not sure what's up with that)

I've tried a bunch of different OCs and this is the top (so far).

Temps are about 50-54C steady during the test.

Any thoughts?

Whats wrong with upping the Vcore if your temps are only 50c??? You will easily get 4ghz with around 1.4v.

I personally use 1.425 Vcore as my own max 24/7 overclock use.

I tried a few more but I couldn't get 4Ghz yet. will post results if I have any success past op

2 problems:

I think those temps I reported were low, another test at 3.713Ghz (@1.368v) showed 50-60C. Now 380 x10 @1.392v is showing more like 62-68C peaking at 71C... :( and..... crash

Right now I've hit the ceiling for my vcore, mobo only allows 1.392v. I'll be considering a new board at some point, any suggestions? obviously with great OC capabilities, strong build, and very reputable company. many thanks if you know any

Also, I'm trying to keep fsb up around 400Mhz bus so don't have to downclock ram (or higher? 425??:D), but I haven't found a sweet spot. so far it's still as posted in op

Well first thing is you want to keep your ram loose/low until you know for sure you've reached your max CPU clock for a given Vcore. You need to make sure its not the ram causing the BSOD.

Next, try raising the FSB voltage to 1.35 and try again for 380x10 stable at 1.39 Vcore.

Still nothing wrong with 71c BTW.

Another successful run (1hr OCCT CPU:Linpack):

3.750 Ghz
1500 fsb = 375 x 10
1.392 V
1.300 fsb volt
1.320 NB volt

DRAM adjusted to 750 Mhz

Temps once again are 50-54C during the test :)

I will try this and post again. If it is successful I will try 400 x9.5

Do you know what's a good max for FSB and NB volts? I have never seen these max settings posted.

Temps are 60-64C WOOT!

BTW, nice OC! how do you like the i5? pimpin rig dude
 
Nice! Kinda thought it might have been the FSB voltage.

The I5 is a beast, 4ghz is my 24/7 overclock at 1.40 Vcore. I've gotten it as high as 4.3ghz.

I just made a trade for my gtx285 for an I7 860 though, it should be here tomorrow I think! The I5 is already overkill for what I do, but I just wanted the bling factor of having an I7 LOL. Plus I didn't need the beast gtx285, the gts250 plays any game I want at my resolution (1920x1080).
 
I agree! The GTS 250 kills Aion with AAx8 and everything maxed. I keep an eye on temps but cpu never goes as high as when stress testing, and gpu temp is comfortable around 60-64C (hilarious that the fan speed is default 35%).

1600 fsb = 400 x 9.5
1.392 V
1.5 fsb volt
1.32 NB volt
DRAM is 1:1 at 800 Mhz :D
Temps are 56-60C WOOT!

I realize this is a lot of boring numbers and not everyone's system is the same and can even use this info, but I'm hoping it will help someone!

I doubt I'll go higher... we'll see!
