Problem with RAID drivers when reinstalling XP

I have a PS4800D-E Deluxe motherboard. I had a big virus attack today and yet once again I had to format my computer to reinstall XP. I have done this many times before however this time no matter which floppy disk I use or wether I get the drivers off the original cd or on the asus support page It will not load.

Loading the raid screen when pushing f6 is not the problem. It seems the floppy and loads the drivers but when I format the drive and when xp installs starts to copy files it says "setup cannot load SISRaid.sys or something like that. I have spent all day on this and cant fiure out whats going on.

Any ideas?

Your floppies are probably getting old and unreliable. Slipstream the raid drivers into a new install cd by using Nlite.

Why did you format your computer just because of an infection? We could have helped you clean it up without reformatting.

il check that out and get back to you on the result.

the virus shut down applications. I couldnt open task manager or internet explorer for example.

Well after waiting a cd and it being my last. Il have to wait till I picked up some more. I finally figured it out. The txtsetup.oem had to be in the same folder which it wasnt. I hope it works out.

How does windows 7 work with my problem. Would I ecounter the same problem?

Please as a precautionary method and to help you in the future from reformatting your system every time it gets infected, please download these programs and keep Malwarebytes updated on a daily basis.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here, here, here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If you continue to experience problems after doing this, please post a HijackThis log by doing the following:

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log

Just disregard actually running the program unless you want to make sure you are clean to start off with. Anytime you get infected, the first thing you want to do is run Malwarebytes and remove everything it finds and then run hijackthis and post both logs in a thread back here so we can help you make sure your system is clean again.

Well the nlite iso did not work at all. Still the same thing. Im lost and have no idea why its not finding it even though it allows me to select it load before formatting.

Do you have Some RAM having problems?
check your RAM first with Memtest X86
I think the problem is not directly with your floppies
but with your RAM.
Hope that helps

Added a video just to give you a visual of whats going on. Im going to try Memtest as soon as I get a cd then I will post the results.

Edit:

I ran the test twice. The first time it found 1000s of error then i restarted and tried again. The 2nd time I did not get 1 error so im not sure whats going on there. Ran it a third time again, no errors,

I then decided to use my IDE 250gig drive for the installation. It was always in my pc and used it as a media driver/backup. I jumped the drive to primary and started setup. That drive was copying the files no problem. But when it restarted it booted windows cd automatically. I took the cd and restart and the drive would not boot. So Im really lost. Thank god I have a mac so I can post.

I think that all the problems are coming from your RAM..
Because i think that your ram is not keeping the data very well, because
when you are installing an OS, all the data is processed by your CPU and keeped in your RAM
and latter is picked again and stored in your HDD.
You should get them out (the ram) and blow all the dust from them (and in the mobo too) and make
sure that they are well fitted and they dont have any grease
in the contacts.
If it continues doing the same problem after cleaning contacts,
You may try to formatt your computer with only 512MB or 1GB and if you
are trying to formatt with an SATA DVD drive, try an IDE.
Hope that helps
