HD 5850 Reliability

Hi guys,

I just wanted to get a second opinion on the reliability of the ATI Radeon HD 5850, as my builder says they are shitty, filled with bugs, have poor reliability and bad warranties, but numerous people on a few other forums have said practically the opposite. Can anyone justify either claim further?

Cheers,

Obviously your builder is Nvidia fan.... lol..

Don't listen to him... Do some research in the internet if you still doubt. IMO HD 5850 is great GFX.

Yes i detect a Nvidia Fanboy too :D

Ati are brilliant,So are nvidia....i just find that in most cases that the ati cards are better value and sometimes outperforms its competition...for example...4890 was cheaper than a 260gtx for me,and the 4890 outperforms it plus has more memory + GDDR5.

Agreed on the fanboy hypothesis. Or maybe he get alot beter deal on Nvidia or some other ati card so he can better hose you with your invoice.

yes he sounds like a green team member. though the drivers might not be the best NOW, they will get better with time. plus, as mentioned above, the prices are very good right now.

Yeah, probably. So the HD5850 is as safe as any other graphics card, then?

The XFX 5850 seems to be a relatively popular variant I've seen kicking around, and if I'm not mistaken, that carries with it a double-lifetime warranty. I wouldn't have much hesitation dropping the money into one if I had the cash. By much, I mean any.
