Can I Crossfire with the onboard?

Hey, so I had to replace my mobo and got this very decent GIGABYTE one...for a micro anyway, with an on-board ATI Radeon HD 4200 that is Crossfire ready. Then I have an XFX Radeon HD 4770, which is doing it's job pretty well.

So can I Crossfire them or would I need a 4200 card like the onboard? Is there a compatibility chart to check or whatnot. I'm very new to the whole upgrading and building world so I don't want to try messing around in the bios and screwing something up.

you could always just run the card by itself though. the hd 4770 is decent. what games are you planning to do?

You cannot connect onboard card with seperate one. You need two PCI-E slots for CF ATi

yes you can. it is called hybrid crossfire.

^^ True yes you can but, only with cards with 64 stream processors

Only the ATI 3xxx series cards and I think the 4350 also
