Been alot of debait about this , How much power these cards actualy pull etc

Well Before upgrading my pc any further i decided to find out exactly how much it was using

I'm Posting this because i think its important to correct alot of the forum dis information thats being circulated and prevent people doing damage

I set up my machine on a 600 pound Top spec Quality Current meter and monitored the input supply voltage, I set the peak hold on the meter and ran it for 3 hours under games and in bench tests with all hardware running at max

Measured voltage was 240 (not 220 or 230)

The current used peaked at 3.18amps

240 times 3.18 = 763.2

thats 763.2 watts!!!

The raid array will take me to 950.... Do not listen to those idiots that are GUESSING the loads i have measured this first hand and know its correct, You need a Big ass powersupply to run these things dont even think about trying for tripple SLI with anything under 1200w

^hehe interesting, that wattage seems pretty darn high, in fact i have never seen a computer pull that much power through a psu like that...

Not really sure what to think, cause ive seen pc components more high-end thanwhat you have and it doesn't nearly take that much juice to run...

Well remember this is Peak Power and its Consumption meaning this is the maximum Peak power it drew from the wall socket it might have only drawn that for a split second , The rms load is alot lower.. Also the power supply is not 100% efficient it must loose a percentage of that to heat. But i Would expect it to still be atleast 95% efficient

This is basicaly its worst case scenario, But those figures are Deffinatly accurate , these meters are accurate to 1ma / 1mv

Perhaps they are more energy efficient??, Also just because your system is running on a 600watt supply doesnt mean your not Overloading the hell out of it, It might just be a good quality psu that can handle a bit of abuse for a while

Supprised at the score in your bench mark , You only scored 2000 marks higher than me, And iv not upgraded my memory or hard drives yet ,Or taken the clocking past 3.99ghz (I got 26065)

Il be interested to see what i get when the Raids up an running with the dominator sticks and the 965 pushed to 4.2 still not sure if il beet your bench but i think its going to be close
