Just got a new pc a few months ago and I would like some advice. I was wondering how it stack up against an XBOX360 or PS3 for gaming. games I play R oblivion, fallout3 etc... I dont know much about computers so i'll try to give u what i think is important. thanks for any advice.
computer stats..
-HP pavilion elite e9180t
-intel core i7-920 processor 2.66GHz, 1MB L2+8MB shared L# cache/w QPI tech
-8GB DDR3- 1066MHz SDRAM 4DIMMs
-750GB 7200rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive from640GB
-1GB NVIDIA geforce GTS250

360 is nothing to that to computer. It will provide better graphics and smoother fps then a 360 could hope to bring.

ddr3 ram usually comes as tripple channel with the i7 platfrom (basicly in 3s)

3gig- 6gig- 9gig etc etc

you are running tripple channel ram slot as dual channel, not sure if this would hurt performance or not but someone in here might know

You can't really compare a console to a PC. Any high end PC is always going to be more powerful than a console. Although consoles definitely have the advantage over a similarly specced PC, because consoles are designed to do nothing but play games.

the socket 1366 i7s do, the i7 1156 are in dual channel.

The 920 though is a 1366 CPU, so should be in triple channel, why it isn't though, i don't know, probably because HP are cheap

this thing has been crashing blue screens since i got it! they sent a tech out to fix it... same problem. Sent it back to HP got it back last week... started crashing again... be back on the phone with them Tomorrow:angry:!!! maybe that triple channel thing is y? you would think they would catch that??!!

that wouldn't make a difference, it will work fine in single, dual or triple channel, it is just that triple is faster than dual which is faster than single.

:)

All I can say is that some games run better on the pC than on the Xbox 360...like i was reading the review of Devil May Cry 4 the other day...it was given 80% even after 2 years since its release...but reviewers said the pc version played well...

I suppose if Bayonetta came out for the PC...provided you met the required specs of the game...it would run more smoothly....

Howvere...some games may stutter or crash on the pc (not just because of weak pc specs, but there may glitches within the game itself) so the xbox 36 may be better....also, some games are out on pc, but may not be out on pc, like sonic the hedgehog and sonic unleashed....so its just a matter of choice really....

personally, i cant afford an xbox 360...so i buy pc games that run fairyly good on my pc, when i tinker about with my settings...some run well at high specs, like devil may cry 4 or prince of persia....pc is fine by me....plus i can do all my assignments and use the net on the same machine!!!!
