I had plans for an HTPC, but I abandoned it before xmas and have chosen to now make a full PC.

So I have acquired a few parts and have some already here to finally start a new PC build.

I'd just like a little input/opinions what you all think!

Already Have:

-26" Asus 1080p LCD panel
-CoolerMaster Cosmos Chassis
-LG BluRaY
-LG DVD-R/CD-R..etc
-Logitech WiFi Keyboard & Mouse

I Need the following and have tentatively picked these for purchase...(opinions)

-MotherBoard - Asus P7P55D-E Premium Intel Core i3/i5/i7 Intel® P55 - LGA 1156

-Processor - Intel Core i7 860 quad core

-Hard Drive - 2TB Seagate Barracuda XT Sata 3.0 6gbps

-Graphics - Sapphire ATI 5790 1GB DDR5

So I wanna hear opinions on these components working together,

I need opinions on PSU & a CPU Cooler!

Thanks

looka prety damn good, i really don't have anything to add.

I am jealus about that 26' monitor tho.:P

Umm, im not sure what a 5790 is?? but the build looks amazing so far.

For a graphics card, since a 5790 doesn't exist, Get a 5770 or 4890 for $170 or if you want great performance/future proof, get the Asus 5850. It can be overclocked past a 5870 and still stay under warrenty thanks to Asus' Voltage tweak =]

For a PSU that can run that rig and any of these Graphics cards, go with corsair. GREAT reliability and performance. Im using one as well.

This psu can only crossfire the 5770 because the 4890 and the 5850 use 2 pci express connectors. But that's not a problem because if you get the 4890/5850 they will be more than great dedicated cards.

Im not sure of a good heatsink for your cpu :(

Good luck though and hope this helped :good:

Agreed with Corsair for power, and do you have RAM, yet? I'm not sure on what CPU cooling as I don't own any Intel builds :P

I'd also like to ask (if you don't mind my asking,) what you do for a living so you can buy a 5970 and still afford to clothe and feed yourself? :D

The reviews on the Asus boards below this one ^ have a surprisingly high rate of DOA or RMA issues. Also read bios updates needed. they're probably fine but people review when they're pissed off...

How close was I to your budget? if you post it, we can zero in on it. I haven't seen any ballpark figures. I just tried to do the best i7 setup on a lower budget

Good rig, although are you going to need as much as 2TB? 2x 500GB will be better I guess

I'm gonna use a SSD for my o/s and the 2TB storage--I'm going with it as its SATA3 6Gbps

Yeah! I mistyped! I meant sapphire ATI 5970

I'm not really on budget! I just need to buy the parts I like!

I'm liking the new P7 boards from ASUS as they have usb3 and sata3,
