its been awhile since i upgraded or build a computer and i'm unaware of the new hypertransport fsb or mts, i don't get it. I need to know if this cpu works with this motherboard. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128342 and http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103772 i understand they are both am2, but the motherboard says 1000MHz Hyper Transport (2000 MT/s) and the cpu says Hyper Transports 2000MHz, so does that mean it won't be compatible? since the motherboard only has 1000mhz fsb? what is MT/s?

As long as your AMD is socket AM2 and your motherboard you're going to buy is too, it is compatible and will work.

AM2+ motherboards are transaction boards.

They came out between AM2 and AM3 CPU's so people could get an AM2+ board and AM3 CPU if they couldn't afford DDR3 memory.

AM2+ supports AM2 CPUs (which yours is) and AM3 CPUs, but only DDR2 memory.

So, so long as you have DDR2 memory to go with that, everything should work fine :)

Sure they will work together.

Hypertransport are the same on both 1000/2000. They are both AM2.

AM2+ processors have either 1800/3600 or 2000/4000 HT. AM2+ boards have up to 2600/5200 HT.

AM3 processors have 2000/4000 HT. AM3 boards have up to 2600/5200 HT.
