How to take advantage of an HD capable GPU?

Whats up guys,

Recently bought a 32" Samsung HDTV. Lovin this thing .

I have the (Red, Green, Blue) component cable plugged into an xfx8800gt and the other end connected to my HDTV.

Picture and everything looks great and vibrant.

Is my computer sending out an HD signal? I dont think it would be all the time.. like standard desktop images but would it be for games? is it only certain games?

and if it is capable of sending an HD signal to my HDTV, what particular programs, games etc. would take advantage of the HD.

Thanks guys. Let me know!

If it looks good, why are you complaining :P Check what you're TV's maximum resolution is and set the video card to that (it may be true 1280x720, or some odd resolution like 1440x900).

Also, if possible, I'd suggest trying to use HDMI. You can get DVI to HDMI cables/converters for pretty cheap and the quality should be even better.

No complaints here. Just wanting to learn more about this situation.

Wondering if the computer since it has the video card, Is constantly sending an HD signal to my TV.. i dont think so though.

And i would like to know what sorts of programs or games take advantage of an HD display if the HD signal does only apply to certain things as such.
