Probably a basic setting, anyone know?

For some reason when I search in Google the previous sites I have been to have stopped prompting. I do not want Google suggested sites so that is ticked as off but previously if I started typing in say ta it would show sites I had visited starting with ta etc.

Also it doesn't remember previous entered numbers in websites any more. For instance when previously checking Premium Bond Results I would put in the first number of my number and it would automatically fill in the rest, now I have to type it all in.

The box that says "delete browsing history on exit" is not checked.

Any ideas people?

Cheers

What browser are you using? Do you have a program like CCleaner cleaning temp files and stuff at startup? I used to have CCleaner run at startup, and it used to delete my browsing history, cookies and everything at each boot... took a while before I figured this out.

Just using Internet Explorer as I always have. I have not installed any type of cleaner, my protection is with Norton as it has been for the past five years with no problem. I am using the normal Google as usual, had a look at chrome but went back to normal.

In IE click "Tools", click "Manage Add Ons", click "Search Providers", click "Google" and down the bottom you can enable or disable Search Suggestions.

Done that TFT but it made no difference I am afraid, any more suggestions?

Damn, I just used it to turn it on and now it won't turn off. We got two on the case now :D

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with "cookies" on Googles main site where preferences are set.

EDIT: I just ran CCleaner and restarted browser, now it won't suggest a search of what I have previously opened so it must be a "cookie" type thing and not a setting

Sorry TFT, if you hadn't tried to help me you wouldn't be in this situation, but on the positive side if there are two of us in the same boat it's not something I have done!!
