A Different AutoRun

I'm using Windows Vista and I want to run a program in a directory when I'm copying documents to that directory. So, when a file transfer occurs into the directory, the program runs. Is this possible?

For example, when I'm copying a file into My Documents directory, a program automatically runs and copies that file into a backup directory. Clear enough?

Well I can make you a small program with which you can copy the file from one place to another and it will also automatically copy that file in the backup directory wherever you want. For example:

Source location: C:\My files\Story.rtf
Destination location: C:\Documents and Settings\Story.rtf
Also backup this file automatically in the location: C:\BACKUP\Story.rtf

So the SOURCE is the place where you write where your file is and the DESTINATION is the place where you write exactly where you want your file to be copied. As for the BACKUP LOCATION,that will of course be handled automatically. So do you want me to make you this?

Still I dont see why would you do that since you can manually copy the file on 2 places lol.:D

Thanks :D but I don't want to copy my files through a program like u described. I want it happen automatically when I just move a file into the directory. Can this be done??

Buy a External USB/ESATA RAID 1 HDDs station for it..thats why they were invented..
Hope that helps

Extract the file, open the folder called "File copy program" and then run the program called "File copy program.exe".

With it you can copy the files from any location to any location and it will also automatically copy that same file on your backup location wherever you want.

SOURCE: The location where your file is
DESTINATION: The location where you want to copy the file to
BACKUP: The location where the same file will be copied automatically

Cheers!

I just remember something else..
You can get cobian backup program (free)
and program him to copy the new files (from especified directories)
to another especified directory every minute.
For example if you use a lot you desktop, your documents some other HDDs partitions
just especifie the cobian to keep a track of those directories and every minute he will check if you got any new file there and he will copy to another place or places.
That is the most tight you can get (1 minute separating copies) from a backup program without using RAID 1 systems (at least that i know of)..
Hope that helps

This is a pretty good idea. +3 for it:D

Listen Senior...if you want I can make you small program that will be copying your files from anywhere you want to anywhere you want every 10 minutes or how much you already want.Hell I can make it to do that even every 60 seconds if you want lol but thats a little bit stupid hehe:D
So all you have to do is to write the locations you want to be copied in some other locations just for the first time you turn on the program and from there on the program will be creating the backups automatically lets say every 20 minutes or how often you want...

Or even better. When you want to make the backup of something, when you see that you have copied all your files exactly where you want, all you have to do is to right click on the program icon and then click the button called "MAKE BACKUP!".That will automatically copy ALL your files you want to some location of your choice.

I think that should be simple enough for you lol.All you have to do is to click one button:D

Anyway let me know.Until then try that small program I made for you and if its not practical for you enough, let me know and I will make you this I mentioned above.

Cheers!

Youre the man..:D
All good
Just trying to give the man more solutions for what is looking for.

Hey Senior I just got some more free time so I made you a small program which uses the WINDOWS file. The program can copy the entire folder, including all the files and subfolders inside of that folder. All you must do is to write 2 locations--->SOURCE and DESTINATION.

So...download this:

http://www.sendspace.com/file/e27o7w

Extract it,open the folder "Backup program" and then open the program called "Backup program.exe".Now under the "Backup everything from this location:" write the location to the folder you want to backup. For example:

C:\My data

And also under the "To this location:" write the location where you want to backup that folder. For example:

C:\Backup

And now simply just click the button "BACKUP NOW!".You will notice that the console window has opened. As long that window is opened, that means that the copying process has not finished. After the copying process finishes, that console window closes automatically.

You can also right click the program's icon in the Windows taskbar system tray and do the same thing by again clicking "BACKUP NOW!" from that small menu so you don't need to have the program's window showed or minimized on your screen all the time.To show the program's window, use the "SHOW" button and to hide the program's window, use the "HIDE" button either from the program's window or from the menu.

If you like this program, let me know and I can make it to do this backup process every 10 minutes (or how often you would like) automatically without requesting you to do that manually...

Cheers!
