Just wondering i got a plan with optus cable, they came in and installed a cable and got me connected. If i move to AAPT adsl2+ would they need to do a new installation or could they use the optus cable connection they did physical?

did they install a phone line? if so then yes. all the phone lines here in aus are owned by telstra anyway... every single one. :(

wonder if they record the phone call convo's ._. i got some pretty embrassing ones lmao.

and yea i'm thinking continueing with optus cable and switch to the 24 month $70 a money for: 30-peak/60-offpeak for 12 months then its down to 30-peak/30-offpeak

pretty much good deal cause my parents paying $45 for 15gb a month and it doesn't even last 20 days x.x

TPG has a good deal. 120GB for $50 a month, with a home phone. this is ADSL2+ speeds, and once you go over the limit there aren't any extra charges, and the speed is shaped to 512k/512k.

FYI: Telstra and Optus both shape their speeds to 64k/64k i think. which is about 5% better than dialup. using that for 3 weeks is TORTURE.

so true! being capped is a pain. i wish one of the American ISP companies do a deal for unlimited like $50 in australia xD

god i feel sad for you Australia folks! i would be so mad if i got capped every month and i've heard so many bad things about telstra lol

If one is on cable (usually means FTTC/FTTP/co-ax) and the other on DSL then you'd have to have a new installation as the DSL uses good ol' copper and the other fibre optic.

comcast is 250gb a month. but if you get capped twice a year they cancel your subscribtion and you cant get service with them again iirc

that sounds pretty harsh. Here, they don't give a rats arse if you're capped. you're paying them, that's all they care. customer service is crap, technical advice is crap, the internet craps out during heavy rain, and they overcharge.

/rant against telstra

oh lol, but next month i switch to the 90gb 24month plan for $70 which is peak12 pm ~ 12am/ offpeak 12am ~ pm: 30/60 then the last 12 months is: 30/30

compared to others i heard cable is faster then adsl2+ but people say its how close you are to the exchange.

But i heard cable is used for gaming. But mostly i use gaming and research for assignments o.o optus has good customer support but no optus gaming network like iprimus :(

Yeah, I gotta convince my dad to get the 120gb tpg plan. only $800 total or something (for the entire 12 months) and it's adsl2+.

Already got a modem sorted :)

haha took me 3 hours to make my dad understand why 15gb per month isn't enough.

15gb isn't even enough for one legal download of GTA IV off of steam :o

120gb is going to be awesome.

25GB was gone in about 3 weeks, one whole week of 64k that drops out more than satellite internet :(
