Weird GPU noises

Sounds like squealing, and it go's bew bew bewwww bewwww, lol in a squealing noise. Randomly does even out of games, and in games it only does it when I'm in a menu. To get it to stop out of game I run the ati tool artifact scan and it makes it stop. Almost like the gpu is screaming because its not being used. Ideas?

Hmm... I'd first check the fan, but it might just be some noisy capacitors or something. I've heard computers doing this. Actually my new laptop can be heard if you put your ear right up to it. It's a quiet squealing noise that happens when it's processing something.

I don't see why it would do it out of game though.

Just pitching this in here: If it's the fan, then it's possible that the PWM control is making that noise when the fan is running at low speeds.

Is the noise similar to a high pitch whine of a cordless drill? That's similar to the PWM thing.

Sounds like more of a whistle/squeal if that makes sense.

that is coil whine. if you can find the source of it on the card, take the card out, dab some superglue over the coils and let it set. that should fix it :good:

I wanna call tech support and ask or even exchange my card (my boss said it shouldn't do that especially out of game) but isn't my warrenty void since i overclocked?

nah, just clock it back to normal and send it back if you are worried. there is now way they can tell if it was overclocked
