Windows Shutting Down

Need help, over the past 1-2 weeks while surfing the internet my comp. goes to the dreaded blue screen and says it going to shut down to prevent damage. It boots back up with an option of safe, normal mode etc. I go back onto internet and its fine for days. I noticed this happening about 1 1/2 weeks ago I was on MSN and clicked on the toyota recall. It's not doing this all the time just intermittenly. Is there somewhere in the comp. I can find a history log of why this is shutting down? Also I searched for new programs added in the past 2 weeks and only came up with yahoo tool bar which I just deleted and CCleaner which I didn't delete yet. I don't go to any known bad sites i.e. No porn, bad pics etc. I do alot on internet surfing for work related items automotive equipment. My daughter goes to you tube and listens to music, but doesn't d/l from these sites.
 
well i think the blue screen of death is caused by not enough ram ( not totally sure) but whats your computer spec's if you dont mind?

Here are my specs. I don't think it's ram I have 4gb also I run AVAST and AVG maybe I shouldn't run both together? I used to get the same blue screen running l4d on steam but since I did a system reset to all stock setting, never had an issue.

Vista BSOD can be caused by a number of things. I would recommend doing a clean sweep of your computer and checking for any sort of viruses/trojans obviously in safe mode. If that comes back clean, I would ask you if you've installed anything recently. The most typical Vista BSOD I've seen is due to unsigned drivers or a newly installed proggy that either wasn't compatible or modified a setting or two. In addition, make sure your ram sticks are fully inserted and it might not hurt to remove and re-install them to be sure. Run verifier.exe to see if you have any driver compatibility issues, and if none of this helps then my friend, I'd update to Win7 because that's about all I can help you with for Vista lololol. Nah, someone else might be able to help you more than me, I just chose to skip this OS for my PC.
 
You shouldnt have 2 anti'virus installed at the same time (AVAST and AVG) that could be the problem for the BSODs..
Also you should update your Windows because you are still using SP1..
If none of this helps, try to see the logs (and post them here in the forum so we can help you) that windows keeps here:
-Right click in my Computer and select Manage
-Click once in Event viewer
-write down the errors that you find (in the system log and in the aplication log)and post them here in the forum.

OK what is BSOD, How do you run a clean sweep? Run AVG or AVAST? No new drivers. What is verifier.exe? Thanks again I no nothing about software. NM I ran verifier.exe and says no unassigned drivers.

Which anti virus is better? Windows is updated that was an old copy paste thing sorry I'm using SP2 right now. As for the logs I go to where you say to go and wow there is a gazillion if that's a word errors, under the ACEEVent log. It's all the same error for the past week, I'll try and post. Here it is, this is all gibberish to me what the heck is this.

Oh I found something else under application that has and ! and says error this is my problem and the times it's shutting down. What I just posted was info. that keeps coming up. What is this? Says source WMI

Well about the Anti-Virus..well just choose one of those and unistall the other one.
About the errors that you posted so far..its your graphic card Driver that is giving errors and probably is the responsible for the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death)that your computer is giving you at the moment.
Try to update the driver from the graphics, i believe its a ATI?

Choose your model,download the driver and update the driver.
You should make a clean up to your computer (the iexplorer.exe its your Internet Explorer) with a updated malwarebytes.

I updated driver to 10.2 thank you so much, is there a way your gpu can do this automatically like windows or I have to check every so often? And again sorry what is this updated malwarebytes. Do I d/l somewhere or is it already in the computer? And should I clear all my history error logs? Well I think I got it. I d/l microsoft security essential and did a 1 1/2 hour full scan. Oh and I had errors with the new d/l of 10.2 for my ati driver. I had to reload and still the same problem. So I completely removed d/l again reinstalled and bam works awesome finally. All the things you have to do to own a computer these days. I'd rather find a young man/woman locally to do it for me and I'd pay them to update and clean up this computer on a regular basis =-). Just takes time.

Dont need to clear all your history logs..

update him,run a full scan and remove the stuff that he finds.
About your Graphics,the best thing to do is once a month or so go to their website and check for new versions..
