New Build Part 2: PC Randomly Locks Up (freezes)

I put together a brand new PC. Turned out pretty good except the PC randomly locks up and freezes. I can make this happen by scanning the HD with MS Security Essentials, but it also happens at other times. I have to do a hard boot to get running again. You may have seen my other recent thread that stated the monitor was randomly going blank. That was not true, the power setting was set to turn the monitor off at 30 minutes. What was happening was the PC was locking up just like now except the monitor was already off (power setting). The power setting is now set to never turn the monitor off and the PC still locks up.

The build goes as follows:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 processor, Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H MOB, 2 4 Gig Mushkin 1333 MHz DDR3 memory, Window 7 Ultimate, 500 watt PS, Nvidia GeForce 7300 video card, (I need to upgrade), and a WD 1TB Caviar Black HD.

All of the drivers are up to date, cpu never gets above 54C, normally around 48C. The BIOS is set to load fail safe defaults.

Sorry Wrong one.:P I meant memtest+ Also if you want to use the original memtest86 I believe you need to use release 3.4a, however It's not that stable. Uses Memtest+

I have never used Everest Ultimate before but their website claims it has a memory bench marker you could try.

For some reason, I cannot get to the ISO file no matter what I do. I feel stupid today. Please help.

I extract it once and get a second zip file. I then extract that (memtestx86+ -4.00) and get a Boot folder and readme file. The BOOT folder has a file called BOOT (security cataloge) and an an image file named MEMTEST.img, I don't get it.

Maybe it doesn't matter anyway. When I first ran the stress test, everything was checked. I then ran it again testing only the memory and it ran with no problems. Im lost.

How big is the ISO file, is there anyway you could send it to me if you think it still matters?

It's small... I think what you are doing is using your archive manager to unpack the .iso also....

How often does the computer freeze?

Not that I don't trust Microsoft Memory diagnostics it can't hurt to let the memtest run over night.

Also because it's new parts you can always use the warranty to start swapping out parts.

I did individual stress tests with Everest. The CPU, FPU, System Memory, and Local Disks all did fine. The PC locks up right away when the Cache is tested. ???

More information:

When I run the blended test with Prime95, the PC freezes right away. Also if Mushkin list the voltage for the memory at 1.85 - 1.95V, is this what the PC should be set at, or is this the max.? Here is a snap shot of voltages and temps. at idle.
