I have been thinking about getting a Mac. I already have a really nice desktop PC and a really nice HP Laptop. But, I have been wanting to try and learn about Mac's as well.

Is Snow Leopard that much different from Leopard or are the differences mainly under the hood.

Thanks for your imput in advance.

The differences are tiny, Snow Leopard is essentially Leopard 2.0. Which is why the share the same giant cat name and why the upgrade is only $29.

The major differences now is, that QT Pro is now free and included in the OS and that they completely dropped all PPC support for legacy Macs, and this OS only supports x86 (Intel based) Macs. So, it basically drops an 8gig finger print from an OS install. Meaning it takes up less space.

Other than that, there are some differences here and there but not much that would affect an average end user. Like, I doubt how you care how the system obtains a kerberos ticket.

You mustn't forget the right click menu for dock items has changed color, and there's a new screensaver :P

Though I like the idea of PPC support being dropped, that must clean things up a bit.
