Core i7-980X 6 Core bad boy

That's why you never buy the best of the best :). Though having a Q6600 does help in terms of multitasking, I can have a lot more things open and not slow down than my friends E6600.

Try running Flight Simulator X on maximum graphic settings with a Q6600 Processor and you will see software that can tax hardware.

The new six-core Intel released looks interesting. I would like to see marks comparing the Core i7-980X with other processors.

I know a YouTube guy who has his at 4.2GHz already.

That guy is breaking the law then, because its against intel policy(and therefore illegal, intel can sue you as well as take the chip back) if you release information on ES chips or if you buy or sell an ES chip.
That board doent support those processors.

i think ibm just did some tests on some new type of transistor material or something(not exactly sure) but they claim it might be able to, one day, break the 100ghz barrier. i'll look for it

I'd be okay if they sued me, but take the chip back?! NO!!!

Yep. It's called "Bulldozer" ;)

It's their new architechture for 6/8 core cpu's, it's meant to be really good.

Yeah thats the AMD fanboy response to everything, they've been saying it for years. By the time AMD releases the mystical bulldozer, intel will probably be way ahead of it again.

AMD has been confirmed to be releasing a 6-core Thuban CPU, which will probably not touch the performance of a 980x (well, it won't, at all) it will be considerably cheaper.

Who gives a crap about Thuban, it's just 6 deneb cores. I'm willing to bet an I7 will still outperform it in most if not all tasks. Thuban is also only 2.4-2.8ghz, so it probably will not even reach 4ghz on air or maybe even water. An I7 is still a better value than thuban....the only reason AMD will sell Thuban is because of the ''bling'' factor of having a hex core.

No one buys this CPU for gaming, though...

That's just stupid. Buying any extreme edition CPU and placing it under air/water purely for the purpose of gaming is stupid.

I hope that that's a joke, since AMD has been confirmed to be releasing a 6-core Thuban CPU, which will probably not touch the performance of a 980x (well, it won't, at all) it will be considerably cheaper.

I'll do it just to anger you :D

4.2ghz, that's a pretty high overclock for a chip with 3.33ghz stock and an unlocked multi

Well if you look close he was only running 1.20 Vcore so that is pretty impressive.

But, the guy is like a total tard on camera. The whole time he looks constipated, and his math sucks too. 220x20 does not equal 4.2ghz  First he even said 220x21, then he LOOKED at his screen and ''corrected'' himself to a multi of 20 but he didn't see that his base clock was at 210 apparently.

Nah, I can hit 3.8ghz stable on my i7 with 1.17V after vdroop

 OK, well that probably means you have it set somewhere around 1.20 correct? He wasn't running anything in the background so it was idling which doesn't show Vdroop. So he's 400 mhz higher on the same voltage...with 2 more cores and 4 more threads

I would just need a 21X multi(turbo) to have those same clocks, as for whether or not it's stable, I don't know

For some reason you are under the impression that an unlocked multi helps you overclock....it doesn't make any difference whether you up the multi or the base clock you still need more voltage.

Also, if you are running 3.8ghz, I'm assuming it's 190x20. So how exactly does a 21 multi give you 4.2ghz? You have the same math skillz as that guy I see :P

I have my doubts that 200X21=4200 also, i'm running 200x19

LMAO, I have my doubts that you are passing math class. Or maybe you just didn't mean it the way it sounds? 200x21 is 4200...?

Also, how come you cannot run 21 multi anyway? I7 920's have turbo don't they?
