Deleting an extra Windows XP Partition

Hi, I own a Dell Inspirion Laptop that I got for Christmas a few years ago. It's not that great but that's besides the point.

It runs Windows XP and about a year ago, it wasn't starting up properly for some reason and I went through yet another test of frustration by calling Dell Technical Support. Now not only could the dumbass not understand a word I was saying, but to fix it he told me to make an extra partition of Windows XP for some reason... It didn't work and the problem was fixed in a simple, entirely different way. Problem was that the dumbass never told me how to delete this extra partition and they wouldn't tell me how without making me pay for Software Support (I hate Dell more than anything).

So I'm asking you guys, how do I get rid of this extra partition WITHOUT screwing up my computer? I'm really tight for hard drive space at this point and really need to free up all I can, especially this extra partition which I never use.

For someone to tell you how to do advanced configurations, that person had to study and pay for that knowledge..so thats why they are asking money to help people like you solving theire problems (the know how is very expensive and saves a lot of time.. but someone had to spend a lot of time on it..)
Now about your problem..
Windows XP isnt able to merge partitions without deleting all the partitions in the HDD (in your case you probbly have C and D drive in the same HDD and if you want to delete D partition you will eed to delete your C (and its where you have your Windows installed).
This Kind of solution that i gonna give you it should be done by a
professional because if you dont really know what you are doing you can end up with a computer that doesnt boot to windows...
The software to merge partition has to be from a third party and he needs to be paid also (the know how its need to be payable...)
and you can buy it from AMAZON here:
http://www.amazon.com/Symantec-10256717-Norton-PartitionMagic-8-0/dp/B00025O87E
after buyng the software you got some options there that lets you merge partitions without formatting the entire HDD.
