AGP Graphics?

Okay, so right now I am using an Nvidia GeForce2MX - 400 which is an AGP 4x.
I was looking to upgrade to a PNY Geforce FX 5500 which is a AGP 8x.
So my question would be if my motherboard can handle this?
Or does the 4x and 8x make no difference?

As a side note, the PNY card needs a 250Watt power supply, but I'm not sure what kind of PSU my old Dell Optiplex GX260(Mid Tower Edition.) uses.

I also found a nice Visiontek Radeon HD 2400 PRO(8x AGP) for a decent price.
I've heard that the max that my mobo can handle is 128MB or VRAM.
The PNY has that much, but this Radeon has 256MB GDDR2.
Could my system handle that too?

Basically normal PCI express is 16x, but with AGP its obviously slower so the faster card should have better performance, and i didn't know mobos had a limit to how much graphics memory you can have but if in doubt follow the motherboard's advice

Ahh...
So the 4x and 8 is basically the speed of the graphics.
Well, I am not sure if mobo's have a limit but from a post I read somewhere.
So it's in the blue for me.

So, I found out that my PSU is in fact a 250Watt, but the max my mobo can use is a 4x AGP.
I've read online that some 8x AGP cards can be backwards compatible with 4x agp but I'm not sure.

It will work fine, I've used 8x AGP cards with 4x AGP on my old P4. It's the same with PCI express, there's your regular PCI express and then there's PCI express 2.0 which is backward compatible.

Alright, so I installed the card today and it works like a charm!
