i had been getting the "blue screen of death" on my xp desktop during the load-up bar of xp. so i decided to re-install xp, but sadly i was out of the licence agreement, or whatever. So i decided just to repair xp, and it seemed to work... BUT I'm stuck at the password page, and the password i have does not work, i know for a fact that it is the correct password. and after 3 tries it reboots, and i have to do it all over again, and wait through the "repairing" process every time.

am i screwed?

thanks for any help.

That is not allowed unless you have a volume license, which most likely you do not. You would need to buy a new copy of the OS. If you have the full retail install cd then you can as long as the previous installs on the other computers have been uninstalled and you would have to call microsoft to activate.

hmmm, that is also a problem, because the hard drive i downloaded it on previously, is now non operational.

If you can prove to microsoft that the hard drives or computers died that the other installs were on then they should activate it for you with no problem.

When it asks you to activate, choose the selection to activate over the phone and it will give you a number to dial.

I would need the exact message you got when you are saying that it denied you and what point you got this message.
