How do you know that you have fried your CPU?

I had my computer in the basement of my house playing games on it. Both cover panels on front and back were removed and the computer had 2 fans. All of a sudden my computer blacks out. I try to turn it back on and it turns of after about 15 seconds. The computer wasn't running very hard and i was playing a simple flash game. This is the second computer that i had this problem with... Is it the CPU?

EDIT: I did not Overclock this machine!

What type of power supply are you running? I see in your sig 470W, if its the case power supply you may have overloaded it as the are generally rubbish quality.

eh thats sorta what i had expected... so my 1 power supply fired both by computers... time for a new one =(

Now new question what do i do when a faulty product completely destroys my computer?

Get a new one, case power supplies or cheap dell ones shouldnt be trusted. With any luck only the power supply is actually bad. Stick to the main brands, cheaper off brands may sound like a good deal until they blow up on you.

could just as easily be a bad ram stick. might as well start with the ram dance before you order a new psu (even though it'd be a great investment)
