laptop seems a little under powered

I bought this laptop recently, assuming that it could blaze through some games fairly easily. So far, I'm not impressed.

For example, I play WoW (yeah, yeah) and if in a city, or any 10 or 25 man raid, i HAVE to have the vid settings on low, and I'm still under 10 fps...usualy around 7. I expected this computer to be able to handle WoW fairly easily..was that a foolish assumption?? thanks

laptop is an Asus G60 VX

Yea, thats what I was thinking. But so far...it isn't. Don't get me wrong..it plays the game..but it definitely struggles during raids and in the city...if i go on even medium setting, i get about 3 fps in more congested areas...

Doesn't make sense to me..

Seems like it's overloaded wih crap. assuming you bought it new from a store, i'd recommend a full reformat.

Also use thes programs weekly or when needed (defrag right atfer you've installed something)

Malwarebytes
CCleaner
Auslogics Disk Defrag
Auslogics Registry Cleaner

Infact lack of defragging could be your problem. large games like WoW that take up gigabytes of space really need to be defragged before playing for the first time.

I'd like to avoid reformatting if possible. Apparently, they don't provide reformat discs with computer's anymore, so I'd have to make a recovery disc. When I make a recovery disc, wouldnt all the bloatware and what not just get backed up as well, so when i reformat, it's all just reinstalled?

I deleted some of the unneeded things, and ran an auslogic disk defrag. I haven't noticed any difference in game.

This is a little frustrating, as i bought this computer expecting it to be able to handle WoW, considering WoW isn't the most demanding game out there graphics wise.

that laptop really shoulnt have a problem playing wow
have you ensured that all the latest drivers have been install especially the graphics drivers
as linkin said have you ran Malwarebytes and also a hijack this log which if you post on here will allow us to see whats running in the background and so forth

there may be a security issue try checking these instructions (although i have listed the programs needed above)

I downloaded the latest drivers that i could find for the video card.

I just want to clarify, the game does run OK when just playing on my own away from everything, on high settings(not ultra). But when i got to a congested city, or any raid..i have to turn settings on low and it still struggles

I'll download malwarebytes and hijack this and post the logs.

ok i see a bit clearer now just out of interest how fast is your internet?
it could be a speed issue or other internet related issue that is causing the lag not the laptop

Off the top of my head, I don't know the speed of the internet. But it's cable.. and i've also played at my friends house that has the fastest cable connection in the area, and it was still the same.

My desktop runs the game just fine on the same connections, but unfortunately my desktop is out of commission as of now(I have a thread in the desktop section tryin to figure that problem out).

Yea. It's actually funny b/c i forgot to one time and i was gettin rly high latency, and i couldnt figure out why. But normally i shut it off, and it rly only effects my latency
