my mobo came integrated with the ATI radeon HD 3200. is this a good video card for graphics intensive games? should i upgrade? if so, which graphics card should i get? thanks.

The HD3200 is towards the end of the 'mid range' video cards. Definitely not for intensive gaming. What's your budget that you'd want to spend?

ok thanks. well, im 14 so im gonna have to earn it all by chores... oh well. what about one for less than $100?

3200 is not a gaming card, heck, it isn't a card, it is an integrated chip. The one you posted is not a good card either, it is good for low end gaming and HD movies at best.

Before you install a dedicated graphics card, make sure your power supply is up to the challenge, because if it is not powerful enough or low quality, it won't be able to handle very much.

If you don't know what power supply you have, take the side off your case and read the label on it, the wattage and 12A rail(2) information is what is needed.

You will notice some are a good $50 or nearly away from your budget. They will all game on all recent games with no problems, but that $50 buffer is incase your power supply can't handle a card, that will pay for it

=EDIT=

just looked at your sig, you PSU is fine.

Any of the cards will do, or, you can get a 5770 within budget ;)

You can do light gaming on 3200. My brother played through Crysis on an HD3450, which is essentially the same thing but in discrete form. Not saying it looked pretty, but if it can handle that, then games with less eyecandy (Valve and Blizzard games, anyone?) should run just fine. I know for sure that GMod and Left 4 Dead both run fairly well.

However, an upgrade would be a good idea.

It isn't as the op asked for a "good card for graphics intensive games" though is it.

It reminds me of when I tried to run GoW on my mum's old PC which had a 6100 in I think. Was entertaining to say the least at how badly it handled it and how I had to power it down with the power button, because it wouldn't respond :P (the same system with xp that took 10 minutes+ to boot up to a usable state)

What resolution monitor do you have that you will be gaming on? And what games do you want to play? Those are both HUGE factors there.

If you only have like a 1280x1024 or 1440x900 resolution, than this 9600gt will be spot on for what you need and offers superior bang for the buck-

If you have a 1920x1080 or better, than you're gonna need something stronger. A gts250 or a 5770 will be good.

i have a motherboard with onboard 3200 graphics and it is really fun going from that to an hd 5770 :) assassin's creed (the game i loved at the time) was amazingly better after the upgrade. i would highly recommend the hd 5770, or something close within your budget.

Oh not at all, haha. I was just giving him an idea of what it's capable of, which, while not much, is still more than people give it credit for. 3xxx/4xxx IGP's are pretty impressive for integrated units.

I agree with Drenlin. I would definately grab that Saphire 4670 over the 9600gt. Has a nice third party cooler (probably arctic cooling) :good:

I've had THAT exact biostar 9600gt, and I have THAT exact sapphire 4670 sitting 2 feet from me. The 9600gt EASILY beats the 4670 in gaming performance. The 4670 is more equal to the 9600gso, and the gt is 10-20% better on most occasions.

I know video cards, I've owned probably 2-3 dozen in the last 6 months.

Edit-Actually I just looked and my 4670 is a GDDR4 card, which is even better than the ddr3. Now I'd REALLY get the 9600gt.
