Power supply help

Is there ANY replacement with higher wattage (500 watts?) for the 240 watt hp power supply thats onboard the compaq 6000 pro smallforms? I can't find any and from what I understand I might have to modify the connection (its proprietary to hp) to get any replacement.. Is that the case or is there one I'm missing that will work with hp's proprietary power supply? It's a 14 pin the part number is 503376-001 and I hope I don't have to jury rig the thing just to get a better supply in there..

It looks like you're just going to have to jury rig it. I've had to do the same with HP computers...

I do have some other advice for you:

Never ever ever ever buy a prebuilt computer again. come here, tell us your budget, what you intend to do with the computer and we can get some good recommendations for you. :)

LOL, I didn't buy it, one of the other techs at my work is a moron and when we got like 250 of these in from hp he listed it DOA (dead on arrival) because it wouldn't boot and was gonna scrap it without even attempting to fix it. So I saved it, took it home popped it open (love the hp sidepanel) and all it was was a disconnected power supply cable, then it booted right up lol. So a quick format to get the corporate security off and WALA! Free decent browsing computer. Though I wish I could put a better POWER SUPPLY in the thing.

^ Can't beat free, haha.

If you can find a diagram of the HP connector, you could probably make the adapter yourself, assuming it still uses an ATX-type on/off system.

Generally HP power supplies use the same colors as a standard atx power supple, eg- Yellow=12v, red= 5v, Orange= 3.3v, Power On= green, -12v=blue, ground=black, grey=power good, purple =5v standby(i think), brown is something with the 3.3v iirc.
