I think the 360 is better overall, but I hate paying for the online. I would probably have a PS3 myself if it had better controllers, Halo 3, and the rest of my friends had one as well (because right now almost all of my friends have 360 so I always play with them online).

The situation here is exactly the opposite of last generation. Ps3 has better hardware and features(though the 360's GPU is much better), while the 360 has a much better online experience and game library. That's a bit simplified, of course, but basically what it boils down to.

I would get a 360 if you dont care about blu-ray. The 360 has better games and is just better over all the controllers are easier to use then the PS3. I have had a 360 since last november bought it from newegg and I have had no problems with it since then it is the 120GB Elite.

Although someday I may just buy a PS3 for the hell of it.

xbox 360 for gaming/online gaming
ps3 for bluray

i would buy a ps3 but only for blue ray, i dont game on consoles cos they are not hardcore enough!

PS3 has better hardware compared to xbox 360 (In theory). Also, PS3's exclusives are better as well. Online gaming on the PS3 is free, whilst you need to pay money to access online features on the xbox 360.

I suggest that you buy PS3-slim because that's what most new console users does today.

PS3= Blu-ray ..Blu ray = Better Image Quality, won over HD-dvd

Xbox 360 = HD-dvd.. HD-dvd = more discs, and less hd dvd's to buy due to the blu-ray taking over..

You are way wrong a lot more people own 360s then PS3 also judging by what my friends at game stop tell me 75% of people will buy a 360 over a PS3 because of the better game choices. The blu-ray is the only selling point to the PS3 other then its pretty looks. The 360 is still the most obvious choice for gaming.

please do :D

or i will:
ps3's hard drive can be upgraded without having to pay outrageous prices, RROD, psp remote play(if you have one), built in wireless

also the "ps3 move" or whatever it is going to be called is coming out soon

ps3 had rlod, ylod, i own both there are like 2 games i play on ps3, and play my 360 much more, the online for ps3 Playstation network although free sucks, xbox live you pay 40 a year and you get what you pay for a good online community.

ps3 does have blu-ray and built in wireless but the blu-ray lens fails quite often.

and i just finished reading and seen you went with 360 post your gt we could get some cod or halo goin

I'm pretty sure the xbox 360 does not have an HD DVD drive. They sold it as an addon for a while but now that they stopped making HD DVD movies, I think they stopped manufacturing the HD DVD addon drive.

But your point stand that if you're buying it with the primary intention of watching movies, you'd be better off getting a PS3 due to the Blu Ray

Yeah your right about the HD-drive being sold separately. The xbox just has a DVD drive in it.

How so?

you can install Linux on the older PS3's? why on earth would you want to do that if you're going to use the PS3 as a gameconsole? I've never used Linux, and actually dont see the point of trying it, and I think quite a lot of people feel the same way.
I also find PSN to be rather useless, I dont use the WLan, and I dont have a HD-TV myself so the blue-ray bit doesnt bother me so much. (besides, blue ray movies cost about twice as much as the regular ones, something to keep in mind too imo.
Dont get me wrong, the PS3 is a brilliant console. I've however sold my PS3 and kept my xbox because I used the xbox a lot more.
(Saints row 1/2, the halo series, Forza and Project Gotham. some of the really good games for the 360. )

In terms of simple gaming, the Xbox wins hands down. (the only real downside imo is that you can't use a G25 with it (yet, appearantly there's people working on a driver) but since that wheel's so damn expensive anyway, I'd say thats just a minor flaw.

Like people said before, it basically comes down to the games you want to play, and weither you want a blueray player built in or not.
Yea, you pay for XBL, but its also a LOT better than PSN. (besides.. $60 a year isnt THAT bad imo, and it works really well.) so thats fairly equal aswell.
The PS3 has more stuff built in (things I don't need, at all) but you pay for them. and if its just about playing games on it, both are equally fun, both have excellent graphics quality. I like the xbox controllers better tough. and when you're only going to use it for gaming, the xbox is actually the better bang for your buck, since you dont pay for all the extra things. (that is, if you dont need them)

+1 The people who buy a G25 for use with just a ps3 are plain old stupid. A G25's effects are only properly showed when used with a PC and PC Games. Ps3 games feedback for the G25 suck and well as do the ps3 so called "sim" games. PC is the way to go

I have both consoles, love both consoles. I'm not generally biased when it comes to these things as everyone has a preference. Though I mainly use my PS3 for the single player games and PS3 exclusives, and blu-ray movies.

PS3:
It has free online, which is great. There's so many features you can use with it while watching Blu-Ray movies, also has a web browser (which is a tad slow at times) where you can go onto Youtube, Facebook, etc. To buy things from the PSN Store, the cards are tax free and a straight $20 or $50. Reason is is that the taxes are taken off the card as you purchase the items online through the PSN.
Graphics are pleasing on an HD TV with an HDMI cord. ALSO, back to the blu-ray feature: PS3's have some of the best Blu-ray Drives inside of the machine. PS3 also has built in wireless.
Bragging rights are given in the form of PSN Trophies.

360:
$50-60 a year for online subscription. It's not too bad, and I personally like the online networks that Microsoft has over the free ones that the Wii and PS3 have. I feel they're more up to snuff and run a lot smoother. 360 uses MS Points to make purchases. It also offers you features like Netflix (which I heard the PS3 might also be getting), a variety of 360 Exclusives as well. Unlike the PS3, the 360 DOES NOT have built in wireless, so you'd have to drop another $70-100 on a wireless adaptor.
I tend to play the majority of my online multiplayer games on the 360 for a few reasons:
Most of my friends have the games on 360 rather than PS3. Instead of playing alone I can play with them.
I enjoy the networking of the 360 Online Networks better than the freely ran ones on the PS3. (some would say otherwise, but this is what -I- like).
Also keep in mind that the 360 has the highest defect rate out of the box than any other system that is available today.

Both are great machines.
Where I am the 12- Gig PS3 is $299 and $50 more for the 250 gig.
120 Elite is $299. There's also the Super Elite which comes with two controllers for $399 I believe.

I own a PS3, 360, Wii, and a gaming PC....

First and foremost, consoles look, feel, and play better on giant screens. If I hook up my PC to my 46" Samsung LED HDTV, and play say L4D 2, or COD MW 2, or any game like that, it just doesn't really look and feel right. It feels better on my 22" Samsung monitor. That is just my opinion, and I think consoles work better on larger displays because they design them for that, not many games are going to game on a 50" TV, therefore PC games are designed to run on PC monitors and they feel better on them. You really can't compare a console to a PC.

Xbox 360 - Well, Vista and Windows 7 will auto detect your xbox, and stream all media and share files and sync stuff back and forth automatically. That is kind of neat, PS 3 cannot do this to my knowledge. I see there is a windows media plug in for PS3 but I never screwed with it. Xbox has more games, and more exclusives. The controllers feel a bit more sturdy in my hands than the PS3 ones do. There is no native HDMI out on older ones like mine so you gotta buy and adapter and the adapter uses component video instead of an HDMI port, which is annoying since everything I own now runs audio and video over HDMI. Sure the xbox live costs $50 a year (which is less than $10 a month) but it is honestly a lot better over the PS3 network. There is more to do, the online chat and friend system is way better, the arcade is fun, there are free things you can play, more DLC is available and it syncs achievements and data to your windows live account.

PS 3 - better hardware, bluray, online play is not as good but is free, simple interface, some exclusives, and I must say the PS3 does look slightly prettier than the xbox on my HDTV. Some games are indistinguishable, but when some games get so large I'd rather have it on 1 bluray disk than 3 or 4 DVD9s. So the bluray is an advantage.

a lot of it is personal preference and I waited till the PS3 dropped in price before I ever considered to buy one. Now that they are only $299 I would say they are worth it now. Before, I wouldn't say they were worth it.
